Dyersburg State Community College will host Caedmon's Call at 7 p.m. on Friday. The group's style fuses traditional folk music with alternative rock. Tickets are on sale for $10, and are available for purchase by calling 285-3750.

Caedmon's Call, a band whose song, "Ten Thousand Angels," was recently featured on an episode of "Grey's Anatomy", will perform in Dyersburg State Community College's E.H. Lannom Gym at 7 p.m. on Friday evening.

The group, formed in 1993, has reunited with one of its founding members, Derek Webb, for its Overdressed tour to create a style that "fuses traditional folk with world music and alternative rock."

"We keep it loose on stage," said group member Garett Buell. "Derek is back with us for this album after doing some solo recording. His voice with Danielle is one of the signature sounds for the band. It's been a lot of fun because we are able to do some of our old songs that he wrote (and sang) that our hardcore fans will enjoy. It's a longer show. It's always a unique show. It's fun and hopefully a bit different than people are used to."

Though the group is slated "contemporary Christian" by many, Buell said that the band reaches a wide audience and does not like to be labeled as simply a Christian group.

"We are musicians who happen to be Christian," said Buell. "We try to meet everyone where they are by sharing our personal experiences. We write music dealing with life issues. Our music is open for anyone. We usually get a greatly mixed audience."

Overdressed was released in August 2007. The tour, with 25 scheduled performances, includes events in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and South Carolina. Tickets for Friday's performance for $10, and are available by calling 285-3750.

"We are all family in this band," said Buell. "We are that close. It is at the heart of our sound and why we've been able to stand out from other music around us. We like to make good music and we'd love to have everyone come out and hear us."
