There is no opposition to any local incumbent up for election to the Dyersburg School Board, the Dyer County School Board or the county assessor's post, but both state representatives who represent Dyer County in the state legislature face challengers.

State Rep. Phillip Pinion (D-Union City) faces Obion County commissioner and Troy resident Jerry Grady and Tiptonville resident Michael Rosaire "Ross" Dubrule.
Dubrule is set to go on trial in Memphis at 9:30 a.m. Monday on federal charges of conspiracy and illegally dispensing a controlled substance.
The north half of the county is represented by Pinion; the southern half is represented by Fitzhugh.
State Sen. Mark Norris (R-Collierville) is unopposed.
Dyer County commissioner Steven D. Moore (Trimble, Tatumville, Tigrett) is running for his first race since he was appointed to the commission in September 2007 to fill the vacancy left when Chris Young moved out of the district.
Joe Yates is unopposed in Ward 5 for the city school board.
Amy Heckethorn is unopposed for the At-Large Position 1 for the city school board.
Nettie Thomas is unopposed in Ward 1 for the city school board.
Sharon McElrath is unopposed in Ward 3 for the city school board.
Maria Starks is unopposed in District F for the county school board.
Bruce Kerr is unopposed in District J for the county school board.
Jim Horn is unopposed in District H for the county school board.
LeAnn Shell is unopposed in District D for the county school board.
Janie Gregson is unopposed in the race for Dyer County Property Assessor.
The state primary and county general election is scheduled for Aug. 7, with early voting set from July 18 to Aug. 2.
