Two waves of severe thunderstorms rolled across the region. The first, that began about 5:30 p.m. and ended about two hours later, resulted in reports of trees down, power outages and cable television service trouble in various parts of the city and county.
The second wave, which began at about 9:30 p.m. and ended about 11:30 p.m., was a lightning and thunder show with rain.
Precipitation totaled around two inches in some parts of the county near the Dyer-Lauderdale-Crockett county line.
No tornados were reported, although storm spotters alerted authorities to the beginning of a rotation near Friendship at about 6:15 p.m.

Interesting pic. What's that called, a micro-burst? I looks enough like a tornado to get my attention.
i also noticed the rotation in the friendship area and couldn't resist taking a couple of pics of the strange looking clouds...
