Jo Evelyn Canada, 93, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.

She was a retired clerk for Jacobi Rexall Drugs and a member of First Christian Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Aubrey Hay officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Armstrong and Mary Jacobi, both of Dyersburg, and Nancy Hay of Mt. Juliet; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Canada; her parents, Noble and Iola Hicks; and her brother, Noble Hicks Jr.

Pallbearers will be Jim Jacobi, Steve Jacobi, Greg Armstrong, Jerald Ogg, Kevin Anderson and Terry Hollingsworth.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to the March of Dimes or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.


Joe Thomas Davis, 74, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Regional Hospital of Jackson.

He was a former employee of Ben Greenberg and Company and retired from Napa, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Phillips Street Church of Christ, where he served as elder for 23 years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Bright officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Helen Godwin and husband, Rand, of Newbern, and Jo Ann Spiess and husband, Larry, of Dyersburg; a sister, Bonnie Jean Demo of Independence, Mo.; six brothers, Roger Davis, Tony Davis, Billy Davis, Donnie Davis, J.B. Davis and James Ray Davis, all of Dyersburg; two grandchildren, Hunter Godwin and Michael Godwin; three step-grandchildren, Christopher Spiess, Jeremy Spiess and Ashley Spiess; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan Spiess and Will Spiess.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Sutton Davis; his parents, Jess Byars and Gladys Harris Davis; and two sisters, Geraline Pinkston and Brenda Aker.

Pallbearers will be Brodie Cupples, Patrick Cupples, Carmen Cupples, Jimmy Anderson, Paul Anderson and Mark Anderson.
