B.A. Davis, Michael Gray, Derek Sims, and Morgan Bowser played their last regular season game at home as a Choctaws, and what better way to go out than a 16-6 beating over the Rebels of Obion County.
"I'm very proud of all my seniors, they have gave it their all for four years here at Dyer County," said Dyer County head coach Preston Ozment.
Michael Gray took the mound for the Choctaws Friday, but ran into some early trouble in the first inning after giving up a leadoff walk and a single to start the game.
The Rebels scored three runs in the frame off a RBI-single followed by a sacrifice fly, giving the Rebels an early lead.
The Choctaws couldn't answer back in the bottom half of the first as they went down in order, sending things back over to the Rebels.
Gray settled down in the second, and after giving up a leadoff single the senior fought back and recorded three straight outs to get of the inning unharmed.
The Rebels knew they couldn't keep the hot hitting Choctaws down for long, and in the bottom half of the second Dyer County struck for six runs on seven hits in the inning, including RBI-triples by Jordan Patterson and Chad Gammons. Davis and Cody Starks connected on doubles in the frame, and Sims and Tyler Roberson added two-RBI singles to the Choctaws credit and giving them a 5-3 lead after two complete in the books.

The Choctaws went back to work at the plate in the third, tacking on two runs on three hits in the inning, including a two-RBI double by Davis who really took advantage of the entire field in his final home game. Giving Dyer County a 8-6 lead after three in the books.
With Gray not having his best stuff in the game, coach Ozment decided to bring in Garrett Pervis to deal with the Rebels and he set Obion down in order in the fourth on three strait groundouts.
The Choctaws added two more runs to their credit on RBI-singles by Roberson and Dylan Haycraft making the score 10-6 after four complete.
In the top half of the fifth, Pervis put down the Rebels in order by striking out the side, and keeping Obion County off balance at the plate his entire four innings of work.
In the bottom half of the frame the Choctaws continued their hot streak at the plate with two more runs on three hits including an RBI-double by Shea Thomas and a RBI-single by Gammons.
Pervis didn't allow a hit or a base runner in his outing in the game, and the Choctaws enforced the run-rule in the bottom half of the sixth inning, making Dyer County 21-10 overall and 10-2 in district play.
What more can you say about Garrett, this is his first year of varsity baseball and he comes and now he is 7-0," said Ozment.
The Choctaws earned a No.1 seed and will play Friday against the winner of the Westview and Crockett County game.
"When it gets to tournament time anything can happen and both of these teams will be ready to play," said Ozment.
