George Herbert Shelton, 68, of Gleason, formerly of Lake County, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Regional Hospital in Jackson.
He was a retired investigator for the Weakley County Sheriff's Office, a former Ridgely police officer and former Tiptonville Chief of Police and attended Twin City Community Church in Hollow Rock.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McKenize Funeral Home with Bro. Brett Mebane officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Carroll Moore Shelton of Gleason; three daughters, Karen Johnson and husband, George, of Dyersburg; Theresa Scott and husband, Ricky, of McKenzie and Debbie Moore of McKenzie; five grandchildren, Leigh Ann Johnson and fiancee' Mark Dutton of Knoxville, Trae Johnson and wife, Kayla, of Clarksville, Lauren Scott and Kaitlin Scott, both of McKenzie and Mandi Johnson of Dyersburg; and a great-granddaughter, Addison Johnson of Clarksville.
