The annual Mayor's Breakfast will again kick off local activities for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 1. The event begins at 6:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church. The speaker will be Pastor Eric Richardson of Ross United Methodist Church. Tickets are $3.
The Prayer on the Square will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., on the Courthouse Square in Dyersburg, with the mayors of Dyer County, Dyersburg, Newbern and Trimble each taking part in the observance.
After the Dyer County High School Junior ROTC presents the colors, Trimble Mayor Jim Stark will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Recognition of the National Day of Prayer will be given by Dyersburg Mayor John Holden, with the event's opening prayer offered by Dyer County Mayor Richard Hill. Newbern Mayor K.W. Dennison will share Psalm 28:1-2 and 6-9.
Before a "concert of prayers" is offered by representatives of area churches, a "festival of songs" will be presented by students of Christ Classical Academy.
Subjects on the program include prayer for government and world leaders; peacekeepers and emergency personnel; business, commerce and industry; teachers, schools and colleges; churches and ministries; marriages, families and children; and community and personal renewal.

I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A PRAYER DAY EVERYDAY WORK,SCHOOL,WHEREVER YOU FEEL LIKE PRAYING!!I THINK THIS IS GREAT IF WE CAN HAVE NATIONAL PRAYER DAY TODAY WHY NOT EVERYDAY..
And no one is screaming about separation of church and state?
