Men sentenced on drug charges

A number of men pleaded guilty to drug charges and were sentenced in Dyer County Circuit Court on Tuesday, April 15.

Among them were:

* Ricky Jones, 50, address unavailable, who pleaded guilty to possession of oxycodone, a Schedule II controlled substance. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by 3 years in a community corrections program. He was fined $2,000, but the fine was suspended. He also was ordered to pay $60 restitution to the Dyer County Sheriff's Department's narcotics division.

* Ronnie Watson Jr., 27, Courtland Square Apartment 38, who pleaded guilty to an amended charge of facilitation of a sale of more than half a gram of cocaine. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by two years and nine months in a community corrections program.

* Terrance M. Mclin, 21, 477 Fairbanks Ave., who pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana with intent to sell. An additional charge of evading arrest was dismissed.

On one of the charges, he was fined $2,000 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by 9 months in a community corrections program.

On the other charge, he was fined $2,000 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by 21 months in a community corrections program. The sentences are to be served consecutively.

* Jonathan Thomas Robinson, 31, 1851 Curry St., who pleaded guilty to possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana with intent to sell or distribute and a reduced charge of simple possession of marijuana. Additional charges of selling more than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana with intent to sell and driving with a revoked license were dismissed.

On the first charge, Robinson was fined $2,000 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by 21 months in a community corrections program.

On the second charge, he was fined $250 and sentenced to 90 days in jail. Both sentences are to be served concurrently.

* Kenneth Brandtly Ramirez, 18, 420 Oakridge Road, who was placed on pretrial diversion on a charge of casual exchange of Xanax, a Schedule IV controlled substance. He reportedly sold two Xanax pills to a Dyersburg High School student on Dec. 11. He was placed on supervised probation for two years, ordered to pay court costs and ordered to attend outpatient drug and alcohol treatment.

* Jeffery L. King, 23, 9450 Highway 78, who was placed on pretrial diversion for charges of possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed on probation for two years, ordered to pay court costs and ordered to attend drug and alcohol counseling.

* Brett Lee Young, 30, 5993 Fort Hudson Road, whose charge of driving while intoxicated was not prosecuted. The arresting officer is no longer employed at the Dyer County Sheriff's Department and cannot be found to prosecute the case.

* Brian Lee Pendley, address unavailable, whose charge of driving while intoxicated was not prosecuted.

The health dept. needs to condemn Courtland Square apartments. That place is so bad and it seems it is just a flop house for addicts. I wouldn't want anyone I car about to stay there for one minute. the place is nasty and ridden with vermin.
