An man was found murdered in a south Dyersburg hotel Sunday morning.

The man, whose identity police are not released until next of kin are notified, was reported dead at about 8:45 a.m., said Dyersburg Police Chief Terry Ledbetter.

The man had checked into the Sunrise Inn, 1170 U.S. Hwy. 51 Bypass, overnight Saturday, but was given a different room than the one he was found.

Please tell me if you are educated or not as your statement regarding Memphis is not very thought out as this has nothing to do with what is going on in Dyersburg. Dyersburg has more trailer trash than you can even think of and as for welfare, if you know so much about it being abused; did you ever contribute to abusing the system as well. Please remain focused on the topic and please do not show your ignorance again.

These comments are not for the ignorant so please find you something else to do.

That place is the armpit of dyersburg. Nothing any good goes on there. Gangs in dyersburg. There is not a lot of murders in dyersburg that involve gangs. Move to Memphis if you want to be around that. I say let those people keep killing each other. Helps clean up the trash and one less welfare abuser.

Oh and by the way it has not been determined that this was drug related. There are several gangs in Dyersburg that kill just for the sake of killing so let's not jump the gun.(no pun intended).

I agree with a lot of what you people say. There are many, many parents out there who don't care what their children are doing as long as their out of their hair.I also know there are a lot of parents out there who know there kids sell drugs and support them in this because it brings home the bacon and occasionally a new car and pays their rent. There are also good parents who have tried to raise their kids right only to have them get in with the wrong crowd and at eighteen there isn't much you can do. Our law enforcement definitely needs to put a little effort into nailing the drug dealers. They grab the addicts who should get drug court and long term rehab and put them away but they leave the dealers alone. Hey there's money to be made there if they can stay on the streets and Mr. Holt likes money. For instance the case of Danny Jones who was busted at his house with meth packaged to sell and his buddy James Riley. They are still doing the same thing but just see if they don't get off or at least a six month sentence. They were making this meth to sell to our children so how is it they are still doing the same thing. Shouldn't the law be watching them or are they really to busy harrasins kids at the theatre. And by the way these kids are dropped off by their parents and I know for a fact half never make it inside the theatre. They roam the sidewalk between the theatre and Hastings. At least someone is watching them.

I have to say that the bashing of law enforcement is not the answer to the problem. Until the ignorance of citizens is remedied...nothing will change. Until the piece of trash mothers and fathers who teach their children no morals are dealt with, this will continue. People need to stop having children to get a check and allowing the streets to raise them because they are too "sorry" to take control of their own children. Parents need to know where their children are...who their children's friends are...notice changes in their behavior....and instill morals in them. These murdering 17.18.19.20 year old men were once children that when truth be told, were probably doing what they knew. I see mother's who allow their teenage children to deal drugs because they bring in money so her lazy tail doesn't have to get out and work. But why would he/she when you can have 7 kids and the government pay for everything you have! This is a societal problem that goes way beyond our small town. The local law enforcement is extremely out numbered and will never be able to control things until our government stops being a crutch for low life pieces of trash to breed this mentality of child.

Yes the paper just reports the crime, but could they at least get the information somewhat right before they run the story? Countless times people have been misquoted or their words manipulated to fit what some people want you to see, or what will be the most inflammatory to get everyone riled up. As far as this murder goes, it is past time to get "tough" on the crime in Dyersburg. It has been out of control but we cannot just blame law enforcement because we have to also blame ourselves and the attitude of "if it doesn't affect me then I am not going to worry about it". That thinking will just make things worse. What happened to a time when young people weren't just raised by their parents, but with the help of their community also? If kids had more respect instilled into them in their youth, they might not have grown up to be the thugs and trash they are today.

Looks to me like they were doing a crime tresspassing

why are you people so hard on the reporting by the paper? if it wasn't for the paper all the gossips in town wouldn't have anything to talk about. they aren't doing the crime, just reporting it.

before they clean up southtown they need to clean the drug dealers off the streets. instead of patroling bad pparts of town their out riding around by the theater and hastings harassing kids, when they need to be harassing the drug lords. why do the cops and school officials not see the problems in this town. there are more narcotics being slung around in dchs than a pharmacy can hold. it's really sad when kids are scared to go to the bathroom at school, because of the drugs being sold. when are people going to wake up? whats it going take?

that place is crack central as is courtland square and the other cheap places where the lowlifes dwell in southtown... get this, i took my family to dairy queen for a blizzard not too long ago and someone approached me in the parking lot trying to sell crack in broad daylight.

I went on a drive-by up at that motel looking for my dog one time. It was scary as heck. South Dyersburg needs to be cleaned up a bit. The road to my house is clearly within the city limits and lined with junk cars on either side. There 'oughta be a law!

Drug related no doubt. Little Chicago rears it ugly head.

I can't believe the chief actually made a comment. How many people have been murdered since he became chief?
