The postseason has been something looked forward to by many over the last several months, and though the inclement weather forced Friday's games to be postponed, play will resume and dreams will be realized by hopefully one or more local squads.
On Thurs-day night, the thoughts on the way to Troy were centered on watching both the Lady Tro-jans and Lady Choc-taws advance in the winner's bracket.
Imagine the surprise after both squads fell in the opening round to fall to the loser's bracket. Now forced to play each other for the right for one team to keep their season alive, there will be no predictions in this space due to the fact figuring out which team wishes to advance is simply mindboggling.
The DHS squad has had a somewhat rough season under longtime coach Doug French, and looking at the talent on the squad, the stumbles have left an impression of an underachieving season.
The team has got some serious talent, but a lack of heart from some seems to have prevented the squad from reaching its full potential. Saying this because of seeing it firsthand on a number of occasions this season, it's hard to fathom how a group of seniors will probably end the season never realizing how good they could have been. Unless something fires up the squad before Monday's matchup with DCHS, the team will perhaps be remembered for what could have been.
Not trying to bash the squad, just stating the facts.
At Dyer County, the Lady Choctaws have a talented team as well. Though playing with a youthful lineup the squad nailed down the No. 2 seed entering the tournament, and it may be best said no one believed the team would fall to last-place Crockett County in the opening round except the Lady Cavaliers, but this is the district tournament and as everyone has seen already, anything can happen when the postseason rolls around.

Looking back a couple of years, the players on each respective squad has been part of state championship teams in local recreation softball, but instead of carrying the success over to the high school level, it seems some, if not many, just want the season to end.
So, on Monday night the two squads will face each other in an elimination game. Two talented teams and only one will advance to play another day. Though one team's season will end while the other continues, the educated guess says the team with the most heart will walk away with a victory.
In a win-or-go-home situation, the final question remaining is, which team really wants it more than the other?
The question will be answered on Monday afternoon at 4 p.m.

I guess DHS has more drive and heart than DCHS. The season does continue for DHS!
