Dyersburg State graduation heralds new beginnings

President of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Dr. Belle S. Wheelan delivers the commencement address on Sunday for the 2008 Dyersburg State Community College graduation class held at Dyer County High School in Newbern. Wheelan is the first African-American to serve in the post. She offered advice to the graduates ranging from financial planning to good manners. DSCC students who graduated on Sunday came from Dyersburg, Newbern, Trimble, Ridgely, Jackson, Millington, Atoka, Kenton, Trenton, Covington, South Fulton, Union City, Troy, Humboldt, Brownsville, Drummonds, Halls, Bells, Tiptonville, Dyer, Gates, Munford, Olive Branch, Miss., Kennett, Mo. and Marion, Ark., among other locations.
