Drew Poppelreiter, a country singer who made it to the top 50 on the hit TV show "American Idol" visited Oakwood Community Living Center last week to perform.

This is the singer's second stop at Oakwood as he makes his rounds among nursing homes from Mississippi to Tennessee. But, aside from brightening the days of elderly residents, Poppelreiter said he has been forging a path into the music industry. After his performance, he informed residents that he may be close to a record deal.

Poppelreiter's rich voice crooned country hits by classic country artists Randy Travis and George Strait before he spent time visiting with the residents and signing autographs.
