Dyersburg city and Dyer County departments joined in recent days to construct a new entrance to the North Dyersburg Industrial Park, erasing the former Midway Mobile Home Park to create a nicer piece of land. Gov. Phil Bredesen is slated to take part in the grand opening Thursday of the NSK Steering Systems plant in the Dyersburg Commerce Park.

Bredesen is scheduled to deliver remarks at the 10 a.m. event at the plant, located at 2962 Ft. Hudson Rd. in the Dyersburg North Industrial Park. Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matthew Kisber is also expected.

The Vermont subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer announced in 2006 Dyersburg had been selected as the location for its newest plant. A soft opening was held in October 2007, a month before the plant began operations. The plant has since added a second shift, bringing employment up to about 150 workers.

The event is expected to draw a large number of community and business leaders.

It would be nice if the city would erase what is left of that disgusting looking Barkers trailer park in south town. And while they are at it erase those flea bag drug infested motels in south town too.
