"It haunted us all year, and it was just a matter of time before they came back and cost us," said Lady Trojan head coach Doug French.
Lady Trojan Jessica Smith took the mound for the final time as a member of the Dyersburg squad and despite receiving the loss, Smith held the Milan offense to just four hits in the ballgame.
"Jessica pitched a good game, good enough for us to win," said French.
As good as Smith pitched in the ballgame she didn't receive any support from her offense as the Lady Trojans tallied just three hits total on the afternoon off Lady Bulldog starter Alex Williams.
"If you don't hit the ball you are not going to win in this game," said French.
Neither team could make any offensive noise in the first inning, but the Lady Trojans struck first in the top of the second inning for one run on two hits including a RBI-single by Alli McBride, which scored Mary Jewels Baker who led of the frame with a line drive double down the right field line. Smith put the Milan offense down in order in the bottom of the second, collecting one of her nine strikeouts in the inning.
The Lady Trojan offense went back to work in the top half of the third inning scoring one more run, this time on a wild pitch that scored Alison Petty who drew a walk to start the inning.

Williams held the Lady Trojans offense in check in the fourth inning, and Milan took the lead in the bottom of the frame on one hit, with Lady Bulldog Kelsi McAlexander scoring the go ahead run when she reached on a pass ball after striking out.
Neither team tallied another run or hit in the final three innings of the ballgame, as Williams and Smith settled in and shut down the opposing offense.
