Terry McCreight, Chris Gorman and Joe Moody were in a 2006 Ford Explorer traveling west on Cedar Street in front of the Dyer County Sheriff's Department when a 1990 Nissan pickup truck smashed into the rear end of the Explorer.
The truck that hit the investigators' vehicle was driven by Tracy S. Walker, 47, of Trimble.
According to the Dyersburg Police crash report, the accident occurred when McCreight, who was driving, had braked the vehicle to halt on Cedar Street in front of the sheriff's department to wait for eastbound traffic to clear.
The report said Walker said he saw the vehicle stopped, and pumped his brakes twice, but was unable to stop.
McCreight was transported by a sheriff's deputy to Dyersburg Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released later Wednesday night. The other two suffered slighter injuries.
No citations were issued for the accident, said the report.
