Eleanor "Miss Tom" Brasfield, 95, of Friendship, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Jackson General Hospital.

She was a homemaker, a member of Friendship Baptist Church and an avid cook, quilter and gardener.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Melton and the Rev. Tommy Warner officiating. Burial will be in Bell Vernon Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The widow of Finis Brasfield, survivors include two daughters, Linda Sue Nash and husband, Buck, and Mattie Peay Brasfield, all of Friendship; two sons, Taylor Brasfield and Frank Brasfield and wife, Linda Ann, all of Friendship; a sister, Montrey Sue Gifford of Memphis; a stepsister, Anna Bell Richardson of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Marla Griffin and husband, Danny, of Lakeland, Shawnee Brasfield and wife, Lisa and Chad Nash and wife, Jill, all of Friendship, Heather Via of Alamo and Montrey Moore and husband, Taylor, of Dyersburg; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Shawnee Brasfield, Chad Nash, Taylor Moore, Derick Burks, Orey Brasfield and Danny Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Rogers and deacons of Friendship Baptist Church.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to the organization of the donor's choice.


Velma Rea Burns, 80, of Halls, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Lauderdale in Ripley.

She was a homemaker and a factory employee.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be Thurmond Cemetery in Halls.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Ray of Halls; four sons, Roger Burns and Danny Burns, both of Ripley, Rickey Burns of Munford and Marty Burns of Dyersburg; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alf and Addie Olds Thurmond.


Terry L. Hyde, 44, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis.

He was a truck driver for Calhoun Spotting and a member of Junction Church of God.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Chessor officiating. Burial will be in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Hyde of Dyersburg; a son, Chris Hyde of Collierville; a stepdaughter, Jennilee Prichard of Dyersburg; a stepson, Joe Prichard Jr. of Newbern; his parents, William Gable and Joyce Hyde Hollis; three sisters, Mary Ann Hart, Loretta Riggs and Penny Webber, all of Dyersburg; two brothers, Willie Gable and Steven Hollis, both of Dyersburg; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Bowles, Eric Henley, Jimmy Hester, Tyler Huie, Walker Huie and J.W. Warren.


William Russell "Rusty" Maynard Jr. 48, of Finley, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at his residence.

He was a sales clerk for Dyersburg Electrical Supply and a former member of Tennessee Army National Guard.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bobby Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Sorrell's Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Misty Maynard of Dyersburg; a son Christopher Maynard of Dyersburg; his mother, Louise Metza of Michigan; four sisters, Joyce Peery and Debbie Young, both of Finley, Tina Randle of Ridgely and Sandra Burrus of Tiptonville; three brothers, Barry Moody of Finley, Kenneth Moody of Dyersburg, James "Bubby" Moody of Tiptonville; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Russell "Buck" Maynard Sr.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Anderson, Donnie Wilson, Danny Copeland, Alan Goodwin, Justin Lawson and Dwayne Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Moody and James "Bubby" Moody.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.


Harry Daniel "Monty" Montgomery, 58, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at his residence.

He was a retired employee of Colonial Rubber Works, retired U.S. Army after 22 years, a Vietnam veteran and a native of Bogota.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Bro. John Huse Robinson officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Robin Michael Montgomery of Savannah, Ga. and Phillip Daniel Montgomery of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Doris Gamez of Dyersburg; four brothers, David G. Montgomery of Bogota, Mike Montgomery of Dyersburg, Terry Montgomery of Newbern and Tommy Montgomery of Caruthersville, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levigar Montgomery and Gladys Montgomery Duke.

Pallbearers will be Michael Montgomery, Grant Montgomery, Steven Montgomery, Travis Montgomery, Tim Montgomery and Terry Wade Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Ames, David Cook, Wayne Manfield and Randy Carlisle.


Irma Lee Robertson, 91, of Friendship, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Bells Nursing Home.

She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Friendship Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Melton officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robertson; her parents, Terrell and Lena Cook Sanders; a sister, Engle Chambers; and two brothers, B.B. Sanders and Victor Hall.
