Dyersburg Regional Medical Center recently presented some of its most significant honors to nurses who work in the facility-awards originating from the patients they serve.

The 2008 Patient Choice Awards were bestowed to nurses nominated by their patients at a luncheon held at Dyersburg Country Club at the Farms.

"I'm very excited about this award," said Assistant Chief Executive Officer Ben Youree as he welcomed guests and award winners to the event. "A lot of times, we recognize nurses for the work they do, but it comes from their bosses. This award is special because it comes from the patients they serve."

Angie Quick was named 2008 Patient Choice Winner and presented with a plaque, a dozen pink roses and a check for $500.

Other nominees honored at the luncheon included Yvette Anderson, Paulita Anthony, Jennifer Asher, Courtney Baker, Janie Bard, Renee Beaver, Joanna Callis, Brandy Carlisle, Elizabeth Carpenter, Sue Ann Cloar, Debbie Cooper, Nicole Curtis, Trish Fannon, Kathy George, Kitty James, Heather Lanier, Brett Lawson, Molly Miller, Ashley Mullins, Joyce Ozment, Steve Permenter, Crystal Prince, Sandra Pruitt, Sandy Ray, Christy Richards, Addie Salinas, Caesar Serquina, Sandra Tharpe, Lisa Todd, Carie Ward and Laura Beth West.

"I'm so proud of you," said Chief Nursing Officer Sally Adkins to the nurses present at the luncheon. "This is an award I look forward to every year. This year, we were bombarded with patients turning in names for the staff. We received a total of 33 names. A lot of things we don't even know about go on behind the scenes. You all just do a wonderful job."
