Two women were arrested in Dyersburg on Wednesday after a Tennessee Department of Correction probe allegedly found they and another woman smuggled illegal and dangerous contraband into a state prison.

Two of the women, Serah Gallahaire, 147 Dillon Dr., 41, and Cathy Tetreault, address unknown, were arrested by TDOC internal affairs agents in Dyersburg on Wednesday. A third woman, Kenitra Rowan, was arrested Wednesday at her residence in Hermitage.

Tetreault is the mother of a state inmate, said the TDOC news release.

The trio is accused of mailing a pound of marijuana, 52 cell phones and tobacco to the Turney Center Industrial Prison in Hickman County on Feb. 22, 2008.

All three are charged with delivery of a controlled substance, introduction of drugs into a penal institution and introduction of contraband (cell phones) into a penal institution.

The box it all came in had a false bottom. The weed, phones and tobacco were hidden underneath.

They were booked into the Hickman County Jail, where they were released after each posted $50,000 bonds on Wednesday.

"Our internal affairs section did an outstanding job bringing this case to a close," said TDOC Commissioner George Little. "Hopefully, our prisons and the community at large will be safer."

Indictments are being sought on at least two TDOC inmates for conspiracy to violate state law and conspiracy to introduce drugs and contraband into a penal institution.

Gallahaire was last arrested in Dyersburg in May 1998 for marijuana possession, jail records show.

This is priceless. How did they think they could get it thru. The only boxes or packages an inmate can receive have to come from one of a few certain companies and can not be sent by individuals. Like you said timay76..PRICELESS!!!

Somehow I'm not surprised at this. I'm actually surprised it hasn't been attempted in Dyer County before.

aww, hey what are mothers for... you know?

"come on maw, send the stuff so me and the boys can get high and call 1-900-FAIL"

Cathy's pulled time in prison so it won't be anything new to her, I'm just shocked she'd take a chance in getting her son in more trouble by mailing him the stuff and the mother of her grand child too now the kid will probably grow up in foster care but that may be better. It's shocking.

actually it does happen in dyer county jail . when people went to go visit the male inmates , not sure about female ones , but there is a vent , that was broke , they fixed it now , but people would slide stuff through it to the inmates .. i guess the inmates dont get checked out there , but who knows . but they fixed that vent so i dont think it happens anymore . but yeah .. its stupid .. dont know how they thought they would get away with it ! you know the good ole saying " stupidity rules ! "

Well considering cathy is my grandmother and kevin is my dad. I would have to say yes, that was pretty stupid of them both to think hey would get away with it. But everyone makes mistakes and hopefully they have learned from them. They might have not have been around alot in the past 17 years of my life but, In some odd way I have still learned alot from both of them if they have not learned from there mistakes. Stop being so hard on the no sin is better then another remember that. Every sin is equal.
