Lloyd N. Kuykendall, 90, of Yorkville, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at his daughter's residence of Hendersonville.

He was a retired teacher with the State Department of Education and vocational supervisor, a member of Yorkville Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and taught Sunday school for over 40 years, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II as a Navy Piles, member of Yorkville Masonic Lodge, a member of Yorkville Ruritian, a member of Gibson County Retired Teachers, former president of Yorkville Telephone Cooperative and taught 55 Alive Course for AARP.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Yorkville Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Chris Marks, Dr. Max Gregory, Jerre Vaughn and Don Spain officiating. Burial will be McCorkle Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors at 6-8 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern.

Survivors include two daughters, Roseanne Spain and husband, Don, of Knoxville; Kathy Vaughan and husband, Jerre, of Hendersonville; three grandchildren, Steve Spain and Stacie Spain, both of Knoxville and Anna Vaughan of Hendersonville; and a great-grandchild, Hayden Spain of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lois Kuykendall; his parents, James Newton Norris Kuykendall and Fannie Bell Smith Kuykendall; and a brother, Herbert Kuykendall.

Pallbearers will be Henry Farrar, Don Allmon, Hollis Hanks, Gordon Pafford, Glenn Headden and Jim Payne. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Jetton, Mike Roberts, Bob Zarecor, Robert Galloway and Mack Littleton.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to Yorkville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 17 Newbern Highway, Yorkville, TN 38389.


Frances Evelyn Forbes, 81, of Olive Branch, Miss., formerly of Fowlkes, died Sunday, June 15, 3008 at Baptist Desoto Hospital.

She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Schleisinger's and a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The widow of D.C. Forbes, survivors include a daughter, Rita Shelton of Olive Branch, Miss.; two grandchildren, Steven Pruitt of Nesbitt, Miss. and Tammy Cross of Hernando, Miss.; a step grandchild, Leah Clements of Murfreesboro; and six great-grandchildren.


Mary Alice Perciful, 81, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis.

She was a retired nurse aide for Methodist Hospital and a member of Shiloh Chapel Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Rudy Ring officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.

The family will receive visitors at 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ruth Hays and Kay Criswell, both of Lenox; a son, Paul Dudley Key of Lenox; six grandchildren; and 11 great-gandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Ray Key and James Perciful; a son, Billy Ray Key; her parents, Walter Hardin and Verla Smith Hardin; and a brother, Harold Hardin.

Pallbearers will be Keith Hays, Joseph Key, Joshua Key, Matthew Willis, Nick Jacobs and Mike Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Hardin, Gary Sykes and Gerald Matheny.

The family request that any memorials be directed to the American Red Cross.
