Farmer Tony Walker on Monday stands along on the paths torn through the 17 acres of corn on the north side of Calvin Moore Road north of Dyersburg. According to the Dyer County Sheriff's Department, an unknown pickup truck drove almost a half-mile through the field sometime early between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Anyone with information on the vandalism is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 285-TIPS. A reward is offered.

Yeah, I wonder what types of federal aide or grants Mr. "Escaped" made use of while obtaining his phD. Also, how many times has he used the sevices of 911 or called a police officer for assistance? All of these things require the use of federally distributed money. What is that song, "...before you acuse me, take a look at yourself..." In our country today, we have so many federally innitiated programs until we have literally become a sociallistic government instead of a democracy. As Amercian citizens we would never admit that but that is what the paperwork inidcates. hum...........
Escaped, I bet the palms of your hands are as soft as a baby's butt.......... and have never had any callouses on them in your entire superior holier-than-thou life.........................
Bimbo name-calling, intern, phD? Which school did you attend, Escape?
The jerk "Escaped" may have academic credentials, but no class. Regardless of the farmers' subsidies, he misses the point of some other jerks having no repect and/or morals. Escaped would be upset, if these jerks drove on his property and vandalized his lawn.
actually I interned for a special interest group in washington, D.C. while I was completing my phD in agricultural sciences...so my statement still stands. Only in America can a farmer grow a very, very poor quality crop and still receive monies which greatly surpass the premium price for extremely higher quality crops. So...if someone took a lighter and burned down his whole field, he still would be paid. In all seriousness, these hooligans probably saved him some time. And all of this is clearly spelled out in the farm bill, so read it and don't be an uneducated bimbo.
its sad, but what goes around comes around... maybe they'll learn that from this
THAT IS SO SAD THAT SOMEONE WOULD DO THIS. MR WALKER I AM SORRY THAT SOMEONE SO STUPID DONE THIS TO YOU.........
Dear Escaped, Please try to be respectful to others. There is no need for name calling on this forum. I am sorry that you find concerned citizens "uneducated bimbos." What do you consider yourself? It certainly appears to me that you are the "uneducated" one. Crops have many input cost that you may be unaware of. These include, but are not limited to seed, chemical, fertilizer, fuel and labor. The price for each of these inputs continues to increase year after year, thus making it more costly to put in a crop. Crops are by no means paid for by farm subsidies alone. Most farmers apply for crop loans year after year. Without a crop loan it would be impossible for many farmers to continue farming. Farmers have a lot to risk when they rely on mother nature and begin to put seeds into the ground. All they can do is work hard, pray and hope for the best. Perhaps if you were to put in the hours of labor that a farmer does you might better understand the stress and appreciate their work more. I would also suggest that you read into the farm bill a little more and look past the headlines. The money is divided into many different programs. Most of the spending goes to food stamps, food banks, school lunches and other nutritional programs. Food aid takes up about 74 percent of the money. Subsidies to growers of wheat, coton, corn and other crops cover only about 16 percent of the expense. Assumptions are never good to rely on when there are facts to support the truth. I ask you to please consider this information and be in support of the farm bill. If you eat, you are involved in agriculture. A stong farm policy keeps America fed. Be thankful that you have food on your table.
look only an uneducated bimbo would think that this guy "lost" money. Those crops have already been paid for under the Farm Subsidies Act. We the tax payers are the ones who have lost money.
drunk rednecks or... FLYING SAUCERS!
get some aerial pictures of this, maybe its a sign
This looks to be done by punk kids that do not know how to respect people. This farmer stood to make a pretty penny on corn because of the flooding out west and now he has at least a few hunred dollars in damages or more.
NOT COOL AT ALL....THESE GUYS COST THIS MAN MONEY, HARDWORK/LABOR AND TIME....SOMEBODY KNOWS AND I HOPE THEY DO THE RIGHT THING AND COME FORTH...
I hope they catch them and I'm sure they will, and I agree they should be made to replant it by hand. Farmers work much to hard for punks like this to destroy it!!!
CSI.....
there will be corn stalks still stuck in the front grill of an older model pick up truck.
...
high school boys will be involved
...
beer will be involved
...
check tire tracks for match
...
beer cans in field...finger prints on cans
...
insert a mole in the summer football practice at all local high schools.....you'll find the criminal!
I'd be willing to bet that this incident involved beer...a white guy...and the phrase "Hey man, watch this....."
If they catch this person they should make him replant the field by hand. Like they did years ago before they had nice tractors like today. To bad he didn't do it in a wheat field you wouldn't have far to look for him cause his vehicle would of cought fire and he would still be in the field! This is what I talk about a million times a day. Whay happened to the days when people were tought to respect other peoples property? Now a days people go where they want and do what they want. No matter who it hurts. I can't say enough about this guy tearing up this farmers hard work and the money he lost. People grow up and start acting like your momma tought you something.
If they catch them, a fitting punishment would be to make the punks gather the corn in that field by hand so they could see what work looks like from the other side.
Looks like the Saturday nite work of an amateur drunk........... farmers are vulnerable in many ways....... kids are insensitive to the work that adults put into living and producing the goods and services that make the kid's good life possible...................................
It's sad that all that hard work not to mention all the money (diesel, seed, fertilizer, pesticides) he had invested in that corn is wasted due to someone joy riding probably drunk. Trying to make a profit is hard enough when the weather doesn't throw a monkey wrench into it. I hope they find the culprits and make them pay what that crop would have brought.
I feel so sorry for this man. He works hard on his farm and some idiot decides to destroy his fields. I hope they find the people that did this and punish them for sure.
tennessee9, I agree, this bunch is just a bunch of redneck idiots with no regard to soneone else's property. Hope they catch them.
Hey rednecks! Get a life and grow up.
I hope they get caught and an example be the worst possible punishment to where they won,t eb able to LAUGHT.
