Danny Ray Azbell, 58, of Ridgely, died Friday, July 4, 2008 at Ridgely Care and Rehabilitation.

He was an electrician.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Azbell of Ridgely; two daughters, Dana Rutherford of Indianapolis, Ind., and Gina Hatley of Dyersburg; three sons, Christian Beasley of Indianapolis, Ind., Brandon Azbell of Dyersburg and Daniel Singletary of Newbern; five sisters, Blondell McCann of Humboldt, Martha Ballinger of Dyersburg, Patricia Kravis, Janet Wisneski and Nina Lovell, all of Ridgely; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Julia Azbell; two nieces, Tonya Brown and Debbie Gordon; and a nephew, Dr. Jerry Sims.

Virginia Lucille Dial, 82, of Tiptonville, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was the retired owner of Crosstown Grocery, a member of WMU, and librarian at Tiptonville Public Library for 10 years.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Tiptonville, where she was a member, with the Rev. Steve Carr officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann Todd and husband, Guyland, of Tiptonville; two grandchildren, Lori DeShields and husband, Rick, and Anthony "Bubba" Todd and wife, Dawn; and three great-grandchildren, Lynnsey Park, Heather DeShields and Brandon DeShields.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Dial, and a brother, Ernest Lee Wray.

Pallbearers will be Murphy Dial, Dalton Dial, Rick DeShields, Eugene Dial, Bubba Todd and Jerry Dial.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to the First Baptist Church Youth Fund or the Margaret Newton Scholarship Fund.

Louie Aaron Glidewell, 81, of Illinois, formerly of Dyer County, died Friday, July 4, 2008 at Lagrtange Community Hospital.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Foran Funeral Home in Summit, Ill. Burial will be in Willow Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Nee Ashworth; two sons, Arron Arness Glidewell and wife, Bonny, and Bert Glidewell; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Glidewell.

Carolyn Warden Mitchell, 70, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

She was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics and a member of Second Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

Survivors include her husband, Franklin Wayne Mitchell of Dyersburg; a daughter, Phyllis Warden of Newbern; a stepdaughter, Regina Murray and husband, Tony, of Dyersburg; five sisters, Diane Whittimore, Barbara Daugherty and Alma Rose, all of Covington, Rebecca Gray and husband, Randy, of Dickson, and Dorothy Jean Hanks and husband, Fred, of Dyersburg; two brothers, Jerry Chumley of Covington and Lanier Chumley of Drummonds; three grandchildren, Misty Minley and husband, Punkin, and Matthew Ammons, all of Newbern, and Kris Smith and wife, Rachel, of Ripley; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Minley and Kennedy Smith.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leroy Warden; a son, Larry Warden; her parents, Edward Woodrow Chumley and Margrette Elnora Powers Colvett; a sister, Lydia Gregory; and a brother, Chedor "Bubba" Chumley.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Chumley, Kris Smith, Robert Lee Turnbow, Jim Cornwell, Tony Murray and Lonnie Woods.

Melba Morgan Woody, 88, died Friday, July 4, 2008 at her daughter's residence in Parsons.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Parsons Mortuary Chapel with Bro. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Pattye Morgan Pratt of Parsons; a sister, Marlene Ivey of Scotts Hill; a brother, Gordon Scott and wife, Liz, of Scotts Hill; and a grandchild, John Morgan Pratt.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Edison Morgan and Ben Woody.
