As the altercation became violent, Bingham chased Leach from the house and fired the pistol three times in Leach's direction.
After firing the shots, Bingham sat down in a chair in his back yard until officers arrived.
Bingham was lodged in the Dyer County Jail on an aggravated assault charge. He had a court date set for July 15 for a bond setting.

This is for all you people who wants to ride around in 100 degree temps outside with their windows down....... Give me a break!!!!!!! the Police is smart.. I'm not riding around sweating in this heat either.. LOL!! Sid36us guess you can roll your windows down and enjoy this lovely heat!! I'm sticking with the A/C!!
I THOUGHT THAT IS WHY WE HAVE A CITY ORDANCE AGAINST LOUD MUSIC, BUT THAT DONT SEEM TO MATTER TO OUR POLICE OFFICERS IT IS NOT ONLY A PROBLEM AS FAR AS HARRASSAMENT IT EFFECTS OUR HEARING. IF PEOPLE CANT RESPECT OTHERS AND THE POLICE DONT TAKE CARE OF THE SITITUATION THEN US WHAT EVER MEANS NECESSARY THEN WHEN YOU GO TO JAIL PTU A LAW SUIT AGAINST THE CITY OR COUNTY FOR NOT DOING WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO ACCORDING TO THE ORDANCE
OMG! I can't believe you all are agreeing with someone who shoots at another person because their music is too loud! LOL!!! Ya'll are nuts! That's what's wrong with our community today. We don't like something so "hey, let's shoot'em". You all are the main ones complaining about violence, gangs, rap music, teenagers, etc... GET A LIFE! From now on, don't complain about rap music when you're agreeing with a man who shot at another person for playing their music too loud!!! YOU GUYS ARE SOMETHING ELSE!
A gun is a gun just like an idiot is an idiot..... And to Saint Paul... I guess if that was ur 16 yr old kid vibrating the windows its ok for Mr. Bingham to pull a gun and shot at him...... Well I didnt think so.... Reguardless of what the people of the public do it doesnt give anyone the right to pull a gun on them mus less shot at um... Thats why we got police in this city to take those matters in TRAINED PROFESSIONALS hands... Bet they wouldnt miss.......
I guess y'all are right. The paper could have just said gun. Of course if they had, some idiot would have gotten on here screaming, "Gun? Is that all you've got to say about it? If you're not going to give us all the news, why bother? Was it a pistol, a rifle, a shotgun or a BB gun? Was it registered, stolen or Italian? Tell us something for crying out loud."
You know how people are - they'd complain if you hung them with a new rope.
Thanks for that bit of info. Choctaw. But a gun is still a gun.
It's odd someone using the name "Saint" would say "[someone] deserves to be shot." So you feel that shooting at someone is justified because he was playing loud music? The next time one of your small children start crying at a wedding or a movie, or somewhere where it would bother someone else, does that mean they should be shot, too? No. It doesn't.
You're only showing that you are no better than the people "who intentionally harass other people."
dontknowwhoiam, a gun is a gun is a gun but they are all not the same. Designer Ital handguns go pop, pop. Shotguns go boom, boom. I wonder what's playing on Broadway today?
It was a designer Italian handgun with matching holster! Hey Chris...were the bullets made in China? What about the radio that the music was coming from...American or Japanese? Just joking man...keep up the good work!
To all of you who think it's OK to have the loud, window rattling music I say if a person is rude enough to be so inconsiderate to blast people away with the boom boom boom, then they deserve to be shot at. I get so irritated at people who drive up to a store with the music rattling MY windows and overpowering my music - then they leave the music going and turn it as loud as it will go so they can deliberately bother other people while they go inside and shop, stand around talking to friends, and doing everything possible to irritate and harass other people.
Why wouldn't they deserve to be shot?
well well i sure got some comments about that boom booom boom boom music didnt i
A gun is a gun is a gun. I don't care how you look at it. Hope my neighbors give me a warning first.
I find it interesting it was an Italian handgun. How did the State Gazette know it was an Italian handgun? Would the police report have stated it was an Italian handgun? Interesting, indeed.
OMG! Im sorry for all the dyer countians who feel as though loud BOOM BOOM music is worth the time to call the police. The man who shot the "italian" gun (only Chris Rimmel) would specify something so unworthy of typing. Anyhoo-the man who shot the gun needs to be penalized for his actions. The only time one human being should take aim (bad or good aim) and fire any kind of gun at another human being is when it is a life or death situation. 911 calls shouldnt be wasted on "noise pollution" either. With ALL the horrible crimes and the little consequeces being served or handed down people should really try to prioritize the problems and the solutions. And you people should really reconsider who writes the "facts" in the Gazette.
sorry about the windows if they are bullet proof? maybe crack them a little bit?
Yup. He pointed his Italian handgun at the wiley coyote, snatched the trigger, and Ciao! Ciao! Ciao! plugged the jukebox, who was heard to moan, "Arrivaderci, Roma", square in the coin slot. This news story will soon be made into a spaghetti western.
bubba shot the jukebox?
I SERIOUSLY DOUBT AT 49 IT WAS BOOM BOOM MUSIC OR WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO CALL IT.......I HATE TO SEE LEACH'S ENEMIES IF HIS FRIENDS SHOOT AT HIM...
An Italian gun? May I suggest to the writer of the news article that he use the word pistol or handgun or rifle or shotgun? Who really gives a rat's butt about the type of gun used in the incident?
Noise isn't life-threatening. A simple call to the police dispatcher to file a complaint would have put an end to the problem. The telephone number is 285-1212 for people who don't have a telephone book.
"...fired three shots in Leach's direction." See, this is what I've been saying for a long time. We used to be a nation of sharpshooters; good with guns. Now look at us: Plenty of firearms and no place to shoot them. We need indoor and outdoor firing ranges so we can work off some of our suppressed anger. But mainly we need to improve our marksmanship. We certainly don't want bullets flying all over the place when one well aimed shot could get the job done. Are you with me on this America? Probably not. It's easier to whine, snivel, and bleat than to actually get mad and do something to change the status quo (for public school scholars status quo in layman's terms means "the way things are").
Grasshopper: I agree that the windows of a law enforcement vehicle should never be rolled down while driving, it is a safety issue. However, I must politely say that I have seen several of the city and county law enforcement officers (on duty and off duty) driving while talking on their cell phones, and it was cell phones not the car radio.
To suggest that the police should roll down their windows is ridiculous.
The purpose of keeping the windows up is so they don't get shot. They risk enough in their day-to-day work without leaving themselves wide open when driving.
And I've never seen an officer driving while on their cell phone. I've seen them on the radio with the dispatcher, which is part of their job.
I agree the loud music needs to stop but maybe it's time we stop blaming the cops and actually start complaining. They aren't mind readers. Being mad because someone drives by your house with a loud system in the middle of the night isn't going to solve anything if you don't make the first move in coming up with a solution.
Boom, boom! Bang, bang!
I,am sick of this boom boom music, i think the police don,t care for they don,t have to endure it like we do.
If police would roll down their windows and get off their cell phones , maybe they could hear all of the loud music that goes on ???
the first line in the article was shooting at a friend wonder if they are still friends. now i may have to agree with shooter if his friend was playing that boom boom boom boom music. if we were playing country music to the highest volumne possible we would have police all over the place wanting to take someone to jail for noise pollution. but it seems that this boom boom stuff is allowed anywhere especially at stop lights....
They will give him time served or maybe a trustee job at the golf course if the the DA offers him any time. I'm sure the man would love to drive the Gator around. LOL!!
trigger happy idiot
Man... Come on down to Texas Mr. Bingham... Houston needs you.
