Certified Public Accountant Donna Selby has returned home to Dyer County to take the position of assistant director of the Tennessee Technology Center at Newbern.

Selby served as plant controller for Martha White Foods and Alumax Engineered Metal Processes in Jackson before joining the Tennessee Technology Center family. She accepted a position as a Business Systems Technology instructor at TTC-Jackson in 1997, making the move back home to Dyer County to replace James Combs as assistant director of TTC-Newbern this spring. Combs was with the TTC for 43 years.

"I am very proud to be back in Dyer County and excited about the opportunities at the Technology Center in Newbern," said Selby. "Director Brian Collins and I, along with the staff and faculty, have started working on plans for expansion of our existing programs into Obion County, Gibson County, and many of the high schools in our delivery area."

TTCN currently offers classes in Business Systems Technology, Electronics, Auto Mechanics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Heating and Air, Drafting/CAD, Nursing, Machine Tool, and Technology Foundations.

Students interested in furthering their education in Business Systems Technology, Computer Information Systems, and Drafting/CAD, may also participate in online certificate and diploma programs through the Regents Online Degree Program.

"These programs are great for individuals that are working full-time jobs and cannot come on campus to take classes or parents that do not want to leave their children," said Selby. "The classes offer great flexibility, financial aid, and there is no need to use precious fuel commuting."

According to Selby, more than 99 percent of TTCN students receive Wilder/Naifeh Lottery Funds.

"These funds do not have age, ACT score, or grade-point average restrictions," said Selby. "Also, federal, state, and local financial help is available through Pell, WIA, VA, and Dyer County Promise for those that qualify. We welcome everyone to visit our school personally or go to our Web site at ttcnewbern.edu."

Formerly Donna Hastings, Selby has three sons and three grandchildren. She attends West Dyersburg Church of Christ.

"We are proud to show off our facility and offerings," said Selby. "I look forward to a long career at the Technology Center in Newbern."
