Robert D. Hill Jr., 86, of Memphis, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at his residence.
He was a butcher, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, professional baseball player for the Cincinnati Reds and a member of Underwood U.M.C.
Services were Saturday at Memphis Funeral Home -- Poplar. Burial was in Rehoboth Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Cain and Cindy Webb; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah A. Hill, and a son, Bobby Hill.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to St. Jude or the American Diabetes Association.
Pearline Homra, 79, of Savannah, formerly of Tiptonville, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah.
She was a homemaker and a member of Tiptonville First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at City Cemetery in Tiptonville with the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at Curry Funeral Home -- Ridgely Chapel.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Cromwell and husband, Bobby, of Savannah; two sons, Alex Homra and wife, Gail, of Pickwick, and Terry Homra and wife, Jane, of Samburg; five grandchildren, Brian Homra, Jamil Homra, Kyle Homra, Laura Lee Jones and Clift Cromwell; and two great-grandchildren, Hanna Homra and Carson Homra.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Homra; her parents, George Washington and Lena Reed Dickey; three sisters, Dorothy Hayes, Juanita Tucker and Eva Dickey; and a brother, John T. Haynes.
Jimmie H. Peery, 80, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with more than 25 years of service, a Mason and a member of Hess Lodge.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Curry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Brenda Wilson of Dyersburg; two sons, Jimmie Wade Peery of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Paul E. Peery of Memphis; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Peery; his parents, E.W. "Shorty" Peery Sr. and Edna Hooper Peery; and a brother, E.W. Peery Jr.
Pallbearers will be Mike Atchison, Jeff Earp, Randy Wilson, Mike Peery, Trent Patterson and Kent Patterson.
