Gary 'Rusty' Canada Sr., 70, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at his residence.
He was a retired butcher for Rusty's Meat Market, an Air Force veteran, a volunteer driver for the Memphis VA hospital, and a member of the Shriners Clown Unit.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Springhill Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bill Oakley officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamera Canada Henry and husband, Chuck, of Stockbridge, Ga.; a son, Gary Canada Jr. and wife, Gwen, of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Jeanice Smith of Texas and Marcie Essary of Lebanon, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Nikki Canada, Shane Canada and Jessica Henry; a step-grandchild, Tonya Hardin; a great-grandchild, Haylie Gooch; and two step-great-grandchildren, Kayla Hardin and Josie Culver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Canada; his parents, A.B. and Helen Canada; and a brother, Roger Canada.
Pallbearers will be Jay Canada, Dirk Essary, Chet Leonard, Greg Shell, Paul Shell and Chucky Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Smith, Scott Shell, Jason Boswell and Dwayne Suratt.
Jack Duane Haney, 78, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at his residence.
He was retired as an employee of Trunkline Gas Company after 33 years, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a member of Hess Masonic Lodge No. 93 for 50 years, a member of Scottish Rite, Knights Templar and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joan Shaw Haney; two daughters, Kerry Colleen Haney of Dyersburg and Laura Kay Willems and husband, John, of Sikeston, Mo.; two sons, Jon Duane Haney of Clarkdale, Ariz. and Jeff B. Haney and wife, Kim, of Cottonwood, Ariz.; a sister, Carole Hamblen of Shelbyville, Ill.; a brother, James Haney of Mattoon, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Madison L. Haney of Cottonwood, Ariz., Jacob S. Haney and Ian A. Haney of Clarkdale, Ariz., David A. Willems of Sikeston, Mo., and Chase C. Haney of Cottonwood, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville C. Haney and Bernadine Cross Haney of Tuscola, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be directed to Shriners Children's Hospital.
Emma Lou Moton, 89, of Ripley died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton.
Services will be held noon Saturday, July 26 at St. James Church of God In Christ in Brownsville. Visitation will be held Friday from noon-7 p.m.
Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Inaz Coleman of Ripley; a son, Constantine, A.K.A. "Tony" Moton of Memphis; and two sisters, Sadie Leake and Thelma Barlow, both of Ripley.
Charlotte Ann Smith, 65, of Dyersburg, died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a charter member of Second Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Smith; three sons, Mike Millner, Mark Millner and Martin Millner, all of Dyersburg; a sister, Dorothy Wickstrom of Duluth, Minn.; three brothers, Loyd Bateman, Harold Bateman and Wayne Bateman, all of Dyersburg; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Clayton Millner, and her parents, Vennie and Julia Bateman.
Pallbearers will be Mark Millner, Martin Millner, Mike Millner, Dylan Riley, Danny Fowlkes and Michael William Sipes. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Smith.
