Election Commission certifies August election

The Dyer County Election Commission made short work of certifying the Aug. 7 election at a called meeting on Monday, Aug. 18.

Commissioners and Election Administrator Jane Heathcott were awaiting software from the state to finalize the election and, once that software arrived, the commission worked quickly to get the job done.

"We finally got the software from the state," said Heathcott. "We were able to put these books together per their requirements. Nothing has changed since election night."

Commissioners voted to certify the election with a motion by Harold Sartin. Vernita Turner added a second and the motion passed unanimously by all commissioners present.

Secretary Joe Enoch was the only commissioner not present.

Members of the Election Commission then signed their names on the certification for the election.

Copies of the certification and audit will be sent to the governor, the state coordinator of elections, to each state party in Nashville and each local state party chairman. A copy is also filed with the Dyer County clerk.
