Clara Henson Gant, 76, of Savannah, Ga., formerly of Samburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at her residence.
She was a homemaker, a former alderwoman for the town of Samburg and former organizer for the Tennessee Wildlife Waterfowl Festival.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ridgely chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Smothers officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-9 p.m. today at the Ridgely chapel.
Survivors include a daughter, Waynette Ford of Savannah, Ga.; a son, Anthony Gant of Troy; four sisters, Asalee Hickman, Edith Brown and JoNell Smotherman, all of East Prairie, Mo., and Betty Wood of Ridgely; a brother, James Henson of East Prairie, Mo.; and two grandchildren, John Anthony Gant of Water Valley, Ky., and Greg Calhoun of Savannah, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gant; her parents, Gilbert and Bessie Goodman Henson; three sisters, Louise Rogers, Mattie Henson and Lessie Henson Reed; and a brother, Lilburn Henson.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Wood, Mike Wood, Gilbert Wood, Phillip Reed, John Glesner, Lilburn Henson, Mike Henson and Mike Simmons.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
