L.D. Claybrooks, of Wilson, Ark., died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008 at Saint Bernard Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Buck's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Maury City with the Rev. Joe Lewis officiating. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his mother, Rosie Allen; four sisters, Helen Pirtle, Sally Dickerson, Molly Woodson and Arnedia Allen; and a brother, Chester Allen.
Phillip Fisher, 54, of Hanna City, Ill., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
He was a graduate of Washington High School and ICC with an associate's degree. He worked as a journeyman meat cutter and was a security officer at Northwoods Mall. He was an Auxiliary Civil Defense police officer from 1972-1980. He began his employment with the Peoria Police Department in September 1980. He was promoted to sergeant in May 2005. He served as master range instructor, master taser instructor and as a field-training officer. He most recently was assigned as the Court Liaison Sergeant at the Peoria County Courthouse, last working on Aug. 15. He served on the Executive Board of the Peoria Police Benevolent Association, Cops for Kids, Peoria Police Benevolent Land Committee and as Sergeant of Arms and presently the treasurer for the State Police Benevolent Protection Association.
He had a distinguished law enforcement career. He received four life-saving awards, two distinguished service awards and the American Legion Award and the 1993 Police Valor Award.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 20 at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria with the Rev. Tom Eckhardt officiating. Burial was in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra E. Slape Fisher; two daughters, Caroline E. Carle and Tracie A. Richey; a son, Phillip Fisher Jr.; his father and stepmother, George and Joan Fisher of Friendship; two sisters, Bev Stewart of Bonicord and Edith Basir and husband, Sam, of Lake Villa, Ill.; five brothers, Ron Fisher and wife, Sarah, Rod Fisher, Ty Fisher and wife, Sue, Eldon Fisher and wife, Kathy and Clyde Fisher, all of Bonicord; seven grandchildren, Shelbie, Austin, Alysa, Elizabeth, James, Kaleb and Kameron, all of Pekin, Ill.; his father and mother-in-law, Troy and Sharon Slape; brother and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Debbie Crow, Steve and Jan Slape and Dennis Slape and fiancée, Abbie Look, all of Peoria, Ill.; 17 nieces; and six nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Grapp Fisher.
