Several churches in the community will be treated to performances by the Bethel Renaissance Choir this week, with the choir of over 100 talented students showcasing versatile styles in several concerts Saturday, Sept. 6 through Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Hailed as an upbeat, entertaining performance troupe, Renaissance uses choirs, ensembles and soloists to thrill audiences near and far with talented vocal, instrumental and dramatic recitals. From bluegrass to jazz, show tunes to "doo-wop" and the best loved traditional and contemporary songs of faith, "serious music and sizzling performances" are offered from stages, platforms and pulpits throughout the region.

The group will perform at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Tucker Street Church, lead morning worship at 10:40 a.m., on Sunday, Sept. 7, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Parr Avenue in Dyersburg, and perform at 6 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 7, at Springhill Baptist Church, located on Highway 78.

Southern Gospel will accompany Renaissance Director Peter Jeffrey at 7 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 7, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Jeffrey will lead revival services at the church Monday, Sept. 8 and Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m., nightly, featuring a different Renaissance group each evening.

The group's bluegrass section will perform at 11 a.m., on Sunday morning, at Hurricane Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Hurricane Hill Road.

Jeffrey is a 1995 GMA Dove Award winner, who has worked with some of the music industry's most prominent entertainers including Doug Stone, McBride and the Ride, JoDee Messina and Lee Ann Womack. He has extensive live show experience, and has performed on the "Tonight" show, the "Today" show, "The View", The Grand Ole Opry and stages throughout the world.

Do we not have a Dyersburg native in this group? Somebody should do their homework!
