Tommy Gerald Morris, 61, of Elizabeth City, N.C., formerly of Dyersburg, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at Albemarle Hospital.
He was retired from the United States Air Force with 21 years of service as a master sergeant and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Joint Service Commendation with two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, AF Good Conduct Medal with one Silver Oak Leaf and also retired from T-Com Industries as well as the U.S. Coast Guard Base as a civilian. He was a Methodist.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 4 in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive visitors at 7-8 p.m. Friday at Twiford Funeral Home in Elizabeth City, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Susan Olivas Morris; his mother, Montie Ellean Moore Morris of Trimble; a sister, Ellen Morris of Trimble; a brother, Jimmy Morris of Trimble; and two special nephews, Ralph Cole III and Reginald Cole.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Morris.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society, 404 Jessup St., Elizabeth City, NC, 27909.
Berenice Owen Rogers, 91, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at NCH Healthcare in Dickson.
She was retired as a sales clerk with F.W. Woolworth and Burnett Shoes and a member of Phillips Street Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with Mike McDaniel officiating.
The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at Curry Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Judy Wright Allen of Dickson; two grandchildren, Leigh Ann Allen Marks and husband, Mike, of Clearwater, Fla., and Mary Beth Allen Hobbs and husband, Tucker, of Bon Aqua; and five grandchildren, Sydney Marks, Gracie Marks, Maddie Hobbs, Elliott Marks and Nathan Hobbs.
She was preceded in death by her son, Sidney Allen; a sister, Drucilla Owen Wiles; and a brother, Eugene Owen.
Pallbearers will be Elam Collins, Ted Lowery, Tommy Moss, Robert Cherry Owen and Edgar Shults Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Parmenter.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the American Heart Association.
Gerald Tanner Sanders, 75, of Obion, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.
Services were at 3 p.m. Oct. 5 at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Union City with Rick Knoll officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Sanders of Obion; two daughters, Angela Naifeh and husband, Chris, of Millsfield and Bethany Matthews and husband, Terry, of Johns Island, S.C.; a son, Gerald Brian Sanders of Obion; a sister, Marilyn Gaither and husband, Lonnie, of Memphis; three brothers, Randall Sanders and wife, Deloris, Lowell Sanders and wife, Glenda, and Kenneth Sanders and wife, Paula, all of Obion; and two grandchildren, Olivia Beth Naifeh and Laurel Christin Naifeh, both of Millsfield.
Pallbearers were Brent Gaither, Roger Sanders, Lynn Sanders, Billy Smith, John Law, Ty Parker, Tab Ragsdale and Chris Cummings. Honorary pallbearers were Boyd Clanton, Emery Burden, Tom Hopkins, Herman Denning, Danny Smith, Jimmy Gwaltney, Ebb Gwaltney Jr., Randy Mouser, Jimmy Thomas, Coleman Hamlin, Bubba Smith and Jeremy Lynn Carver.
Lou Ann Smith, 68, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
Burial will be in East Court Cemetery in Dyersburg on Thursday. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Renne Jackson and Tamra Oliverin of Dyersburg.
