DSCC's Rice marks 30 years of service (College honors 22 employees)

DSCC secretary Peggy Rice was recently honored for 30 years of service at the college's annual Fall Conference. DSCC President Dr. Karen Bowyer recognized 22 employees for a total of 335 years of service at the conference, presenting each with a pin.

Dyersburg State Community College recently honored 22 employees for their service at the college's annual Fall Conference. Employees were recognized for five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of employment and presented with service-award pins in the shape of an oak tree by DSCC President Dr. Karen Bowyer.

Secretary Peggy Rice was recognized for the longest tenure, with 30 years of service to the college. Rice currently serves as Secretary II for the DSCC's division of Arts and Sciences. She began as a secretary for Dr. H. Blair Bentley in social science and education.

"In 1978, I started with electric typewriters," said Rice. "Now I work with computers and am working with more people. The job and my responsibilities have grown quite a bit over 30 years. And I have learned a great deal from everyone here."

Also honored for service were:

- 5 years - Rodney Alford, Dennis Anderson, Jeannine McMahon, Devalyn Reynolds, Larry Stafford and Donald Thomas

- 10 years - Danny Fowler, Debbie Roberson and Almeter Thomas

- 15 years - Melinda Evans, Brenda Springfield and Pat Walker

- 20 years - Mary Jane Farley, Margaret Jones, Mike Samples, Mike Whitson and Judy Wooten

- 25 years - Don Dugger, Jane Hicks, Henry Lewis and Margaret Prater
