Robert Durwood Meeks, 75, of Tigrett, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was retired as maintenance supervisor for the University of Michigan, a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of Friendship Church of Christ and Ann Arbor, Mich., Masonic Lodge.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bellevernon Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Meeks of Tigrett; a sister, Nancy Small of Atlanta, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Paul Jones, Robert Morgan, Gary Wright, William Holland, Clayton Smith and Mac Summerlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Gale Young, Bill Holland, Walter Thompson, Percy Thompson, Pete Williams and Bill Beasley.

Tara L. Newsom Smith, 41, of North Little Rock, Ark., died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at her residence.

She was a receptionist and certified notary public.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Presson, the Rev. Scott Smith and the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors from 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Charles "Ronnie" Smith of North Little Rock, Ark.; three stepdaughters, April Ramsey of Sheridan, N.Y., and Cinda Rae Smith and Ronny Marie Smith, both of Centralia, Mo.; her mother, Nancy Wyatt Johnson of Obion; her father, Terry Max Newsom and wife, Mary Rose, of Tiptonville; a sister, Dana Malhotra and husband, Suhel, of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Jerry Sharp and wife, Kim, of Loudon and Jason Sharp and wife, Shelly, of Dyersburg; and four grandchildren, Chloe Ramsey, Charles Wyatt Ramsey, McKenna Love and Jadin Ray Bartlow.

Pallbearers will be Chris Young, John Young, Ricky Whitson, Robert Pope, Bruce Pope, Bryan Pope, Bill Smith and the Rev. Scott Smith.
