Rosetta Carroll, 78, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at her residence.

She was a retired employee of Heckethorn Manufacturing after 30 years and a member of Bradford Church of Jesus Christ.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Burnine and Bro. Tim Nichols officiating. Burial will be in McCullough's Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include four daughters, Bobbie Sue Morrow of Yorkville, Maxine McCaig and Patricia Moore, both of Dyersburg and Mary Baggett of Halls; two sons, Carlton Carroll of Newbern and Billy Joe Carroll of Dyer; a sister, Nellie Joe Brown of Frederick Town, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Carroll; a son, James Arthur Carroll; her parents, Joseph Peter Conder and Dovie Marie Allen Conder; a sister, Pearl Whitehead; three brothers, J.C. Conder, John Luther Conder and James Edward Conder; and a granddaughter, Melanie Dawn Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Danny Fowlkes, Dan Fowlkes, Randy Brooks, Tim Nichols, Larry Winters, Jerry Hutcherson, Joe Smith and James Carroll.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Community Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 1002, Dyersburg, TN 38025-1002.

Billy Jack Smith, 82, of Crown Point, Ind., formerly of Churchton, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008.

He was a 1944 graduate of Trimble High School, a retired employee of LTV Steel and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the U.S.S. Frank Knox Reunion Association due to his assignment on the U.S.S. Frank Knox, a member of McKinley Lodge No. 712, where he served as past Master and current Chaplain, a 32nd-degree Mason, a member of Shriners and of the First United Methodist Church of Crown Point.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Lynn Knutson of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Kathy Gail Vetter of Crown Point, Ind.; six grandchildren, Kristin Clark, Ryan Smith Knutson, Kyle Patrick Knutson, Alison Frances Vetter, Adam Joseph Vetter and Zachary Smith Vetter; and two grandchildren, Colin Clark and Lucas Knutson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Willo Dean Kirk Smith.

Norma Sells Wilson, 93, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2008 at her residence in Dexter, Mo.

She was a homemaker and a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo. with the Rev. Jimmy Kirby and the Rev. Tom Bass officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil H. Wilson; four sons, Doyle R. "Bud" Sells of Mobile, Ala., Darrell L. Sells of Dyersburg, Ron Sells of Dexter, Mo. and D. Keith Sells of Washington, Mo.; two stepsons, Vic Wilson of Corunna, Mich. and Stan Wilson of Centre, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Earline Keller of Flint, Mich.; three sisters, Beulah Lewis of Desloge, Mo., Ruby Ennis of Success, Ark. and Ruth Ponds of West Plains, Mo.; three brothers, Elmer Whelchel, Homer Whelchel and Billy Whelchel, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wesley S. Sells; a son, Joel Sells; her parents, William W. Whelchel and Ethel Deckard Whelchel; a stepdaughter, Linda Bennett; a sister, Mildred Talley; and a brother, Ralph Whelchel.
