Arthur W. "Art" Deviney, 80, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro, Miss.
He was a retired customer-service manager of Memphis Light, Gas and Water, owner of Specialties of Memphis and Memphis Business Promotions, a member of Ellendale Baptist Church and an avid fisherman and hunter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Klutts officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors at 12:30 p.m. today.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ruby McIntosh Deviney of Dyersburg; a daughter, Marsha Talley and husband, Don, of Memphis; a son, Bruce Deviney and wife, Pat, of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jessica Gardner and husband, Dave, of St. Louis, Mo., Julie Talley, Josh Talley and Andrew Talley and wife, Emily, all of Memphis; and three great-grandchildren, Davy Deviney and Danny Deviney, both of St. Louis and Jack Talley of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Lawson, Bruce Deviney, Pete Parker, Dr. Jim Horner, Gerald Tidwell and Ed Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe House Neighbors, Gene Austin, Dr. Carl Huff, Ted Doss, Ron Hartsell and Dr. David Guthrie.
Conelius Lee Foster, 33, of Jackson, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hughletts Chapel United Methodist Church in Tigrett with the Rev. Carl Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Hudson Grove Cemetery. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Armenta Smith of Tigrett; his father, Charlie Lee Foster of Jackson; a sister, Bonnie Foster of Tigrett; and a brother, Joseph Foster of Tigrett.
Jaxon Layne Morris, infant son of Adam Morris of Finley and Monica Jackson of Gates, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Brandon Lindsey and the Rev. John Morris officiating. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.
The family will receive visitors at 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his grandparents, Patsy Whitson of Gates, Pattye Morris of Finley and Gregg Morris of Atlanta, Ga.; and his great-grandparents, Carolyn Standley of Hayti, Mo., Frank Jackson of Ripley, Buck and Sue Moore of Finley and John and Jean Morris of Dyersburg.
Mittie Pauline Reed, 53, of Halls, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem Temple in Dyersburg with the Rev. Charles Middlebrook officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at 5-7 p.m. Friday at H.H. Hudson Funeral Home and at noon Saturday at the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Bernard of Nashville; a son, Ricky Bernard of Dyersburg; three sisters, Mittie Avery, Mary Bumpas and Aqullah Muhaymin, all of Dyersburg; and two brothers, Andrew Grandberry and Dossie Grandberry, both of Dyersburg.
Barbara Childress Holt Williamson, 77, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis.
She was retired from the Social Security Administration after 33 years of service, and a member of First Baptist Church, American Business Women's Association, Professional Secretaries International, and Union Mission Ladies Auxiliary.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Carl D. Mills officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Doug Williamson of Dyersburg; two daughters, Carol Holt Crowder and husband, Mack, of Cordova and Amy Holt Sullivan and husband, Gene, of Bartlett; a stepdaughter, Anita Williamson Dudley of Bartlett; a stepson, Wayne Williamson and wife, Pam, of Niceville, Fla.; a sister, Mildred Holland of Kimberling City, Mo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Richard Burton Holt; her parents, Ira and Edna Earl Childress; and a sister, Doris Cooksey.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Williamson, Jeff Holt, James Robertson, James Gordon "Bing" Bingham III, Ralph Holt and Carl Minton. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Holt, Harold Holt, Walter Hastings, Kenneth Hughey, Roy Cook, Wayne Williamson and Grady Gentry.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
