CableOne to add four channels to lineup

Tuesday, March 24, 2009
CableOne subscribers in Dyersburg will receive four new channels by the end of April.

Three new channels will be added to the CableOne lineup on March 31, including Sci-Fi HD on channel 415, USA HD on channel 490, both in high definition, and Bravo as a digital channel on 345.

Approximately 30 days later, Oxygen will be offered as a digital channel on 346.

"CableOne is excited to add more programming, especially HD channels," said Dyersburg General Manager Elvis Brown. "All of these channels have been highly requested so they are a great addition to our lineup. USA network is the highest rated network on basic cable so we are particularly enthusiastic about having USA programming available in HD. Best of all, the addition of these channels is absolutely free for existing CableOne HD customers."

The addition of these channels and the recent addition of Animal Planet HD, means that CableOne will soon offer 25 HD channels, with Bravo and Oxygen joining CableOne's digital lineup at no additional cost for current digital value-pack customers. HD customers will also receive the HD channels at no additional cost.

"Whatever your current level of service is, you will receive upgrades to your lineup at no additional cost," said Director of Communications Melany Stroupe of the Phoenix, Ariz. office. "We plan to add more HD programming this year because our most requested channels are HD channels. People are buying HD TVs, and once you have that level, you want all your channels at that quality."

Considered the ultimate in visual and audio experience for home viewers, HDTV features a picture that is up to five times sharper than standard TV broadcasts, enhanced color resolution, theater wide-screen format and Dolby 5.1 digital surround sound.

Stroupe also said that negotiations between CableOne and Newport Communications for WPTY and WLMT have been completed.

Those interested in services or who have questions may can contact CableOne at 285-4174 or visit www.cableone.net.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz., and owned by The Washington Post Company, CableOne provides basic cable, digital cable, high-speed Internet and phone service. Operating 52 locations, the company serves 720,000 households in 19 states.

So let me get this straight they won't put Comedy Channel in the lineup because Church folks had a fit. But they'll add Bravo?? I wonder why I'm on satellite.

I agree with jscott. Also, what about channels 6 and 12? Cable One could have put something on these channels. The company does not speak the truth.

all i have to say for cableone is that you keep droping channels but the cost doesnt, what give's with that. Keep this up and i will switch to sat.tv and it will cost me less. I am trying to support dyer county and the bussiness here but keep it up,like other,we will be gone.

This is too funny, one month they drop channels the next they add worse channels. They then can tell you that "Best of all, the addition of these channels is absolutely free for existing CableOne HD customers." WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS? WOW What a deal they are giving you guys!!!!!!! Free Channels!!!! Sign me up for them free channels.

i try to understand why it is that cableone commericial are about helping the community and what they can offer us. Why is it that the elderly that are on fixed income can not buy just local channels like before (2-13)but as you can tell, its all about the money not their customers.

It's all about CONTROL. Give you the minimum, so you can pay for premium! Then make you feel like they are doing something "SPECIAL" for you. TELL YA WHAT I'm gonna do for you, today only ,since you asked , don't tell anyone else .GET THE PICTURE?
