Jimmie Buckelew, 85, of Tiptonville, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
He was a retired farmer and owner of Buckelew's Grocery, a member of Phillippy Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater, active in nursing home music ministry, a talented musician and an avid local historian.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Brann and Dennis Buckelew officiating. Burial will be in Buckelew Cemetery in Tiptonville.
Survivors include a daughter, Saundra Buckelew Phillips of Ridgely; three sons, Mike Buckelew of Tiptonville, Jimmie Buckelew Jr. of Mesquite, Texas and Dennis Buckelew of Union City; three sisters, Naomi Archie and Linda Shumate, both of Tiptonville and Bessie Sanders of Hickman, Ky.; two brothers, Franklin Buckelew of Jonesboro, Ark. and Richard Buckelew of Dresden; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Buckelew Shuford; and his parents, G.C. and Bessie Buckelew.
Pallbearers will be John Shuford, Butch Archie, Michael Buckelew, Terry Petty, Cliff Berry and Chuck Archie. Honorary pallbearers will be Evan Jones, David Nance, Jack Haynes Jr. and Terry Lockard.
Ronald David Elliott, 70, of Dyersburg, died Friday, March 20, 2009 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
He was a retired experimental engineer with Ford Motor Company, an antique car enthusiast and a U.S. Army veteran.
Services were at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Layman officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Elliott of Dyersburg; a daughter, Stacy Michelle Elliott of Westland, Mich.; a son, David Michael Elliott of Gregory, Mich.; a sister, Sandy Downs of Roseville, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Cody Michael Elliott and David Michael Elliott Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Carol Smith Elliott.
Glen S. Scott, 84, of Yorkville, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Jackson Regional Hospital.
He was retired as a ground-service employee for American Airlines at Memphis International Airport for 35 years and a member of Nebo United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Wolfgang officiating. Burial will be in Yorkville Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenndolyn Duncan of Yorkville; a son, Phillip Scott of Yorkville; and a brother, Aaron Scott of Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Scott; and his parents, Leander and Ella Bernice Smith Scott.
Pallbearers will be Gene Allmon, David Scott, Tim Scott, Steve Morris, J.B. Scott and Franklin Pope. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Jetton, O'Guinn Moore, Joe Pope and David Allmon.
