Mary Sue Carter, 89, of Dyersburg, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis.
She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as secretary for the Junior Department of Sunday School for 50 years, and a member of Summer Hill Garden Club.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. David Willard officiating.
The family will receive visitors at 10-11 a.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Kirk Avison and husband, Dick, of Olive Branch, Miss.; a son, Carey F. "Buddy" Inlow Jr. and wife, Marsha, of Kennesaw, Ga.; two grandchildren, Carter Kirk and wife, Jodi, of Olive Branch, Miss. and Jennifer Merryman and husband, Jeff, of Knoxville; and three great-grandchildren, Kayla and Daniel Merryman of Knoxville and Jackson Kirk of Olive Branch, Miss.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Hay; a brother, Jack Hay; and a granddaughter, Allison Kirk.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
Virginia Pierce Jenkins, 88, of Kenton, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Gibson General Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bethpage Baptist Church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. April 20 at Bethpage Baptist Church. Burial was in Bethpage Cemetery. Leitherland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Galloway and husband, Kenneth, of Trimble and Carla Coley and husband, Tom, of Milan; a son, Tyrone Jenkins of Mason Hall; three sisters, Jewell McNair and husband, Jim, of Twin Lakes, Wis., Carolyn Lewis and husband, Grady, of Cordova and Eula Cannon of Callahan, Fla.; two brothers, Donald Pierce and wife, Pat, of Union City and Clifton Pierce and wife, Donna, of Park Ridge, Ill.; five grandchildren, Tiffany Jenkins Watson and husband, Chris, William Galloway and wife, Jennifer, Ty Jenkins, Jeremy Jenkins and Magen Fuller Smith and husband, Ted; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Jenkins; her parents, Carl and Mazie Lee Pierce; and three brothers, Ralph Pierce, James Dwight Pierce and Carl Ross Pierce.
Mary Catherine Spencer, 55, of Ridgely, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired correctional officer with the Tennessee Department of Prisons in Tiptonville, and was a member of Solomon Chapel Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, at Solomon Chapel Baptist Church in Ridgely with the Rev. Terry Barlow officiating. Burial will be held in the Citizens Cemetery in Tiptonville. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors at the church Saturday from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Emily) Spencer of Ridgley and Tremayne Spencer of Union City; two sisters, Joan Blake of Ridgely and Kim Wells of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Ray (Helen) Blake of Decatur, Ala., Roy (Maryann) Spencer Jr. of Ridgely and William (Charity) Brown of Chicago, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Lee Mays Spencer; her father, Roy Spencer Sr.
Pallbearers will be James Mays, Cleavland Porter, Shondell Hill, Sam McCrite, Kevin Bradshaw and Brian Jones.
