Peter Milo Abbott, 72, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.
He was a farmer, had served as minister of music at several churches, served as a summer missionary in Alaska and served in the National Guard and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Carney Funeral Home in Blytheville, Ark. with Dr. Don McCulley officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Andrew Abbott and wife, Gena, and Cayce T. Abbott and special friend, Leigh Ann, all of Dyersburg; a sister, Billie Jean Barnes of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Ben Abbott and wife, Imogene of Ridgely and Jonathan Abbott and wife, Margaret, of Blytheville, Ark.; the mother of his children, Jennie Sue Wadley of Dyersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.M. and Pauline "Polly" Preuett Abbott.
Joe William "Bill" Cobb, 86 died Monday, May 11, 2009, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, Miss.
He was a graduate of Palmetto Consolidate High School and a veteran of World War II. He began his ministry in 1957 and pastored churches in Adamsville, Stuttgart, Ark., Dyersburg, and at Verona Christian Church until 1998.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Verona Christian Church with Bro. Joe Carraway and Bro. Thom Perry officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Frazier and husband, Jim, of Adamsville; two sons, Dennis Cobb of Palmetto, Miss., and Daniel Cobb of Dyersburg; a sister, Jean Pannel (Billy) of Verona, Miss.; a brother, Hugh "Skeeter" Cobb of Palmetto, Miss; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen Bryant Cobb; his parents, Gilbert and Thelma Louis Lipford Cobb; and a sister, Nora Heatherly.
Pallbearers will be Woody Watson, Clay Mask, David Long, Phillip Pannel, Burt Washington and Joe McKinney.

Mary Alice Pruitt, 86, of Dyersburg, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Edith United Methodist Church in Ripley.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Bible Church with the Rev. Tom Perkins officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at 5-9 p.m. at White-Ransom Funeral Home in Union City.
Survivors include four daughters, Wanda Lee and husband, Jerry, of Ripley, Shirley Harris and husband, Bobby, of Mayfield, Ky., Judy Mays and husband, Johnny, of RoEllen and Frances Wagner and husband, Bill, of Frazier; five sons, Donald Pruitt, Donny Pruitt and Tommy Pruitt and wife, Mary, all of Union City, Roy Pruitt and Larry Pruitt, both of Ripley; a sister, Margaret Faulkner of St. Louis, Mo.; 35 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joy Love Pruitt; a daughter, Mary Phillips; a son, Joy Dale Pruitt; her parents, Robert Paul Faulkner and Gertie Brooks; two sisters; and five brothers.
Pallbearers will be J.R. Jones, Shawn Truett, Mikey Walker, Jamie Walker, Shane Walker, Jeremy Truett, Daniel Pruitt and Josh Truett.
