The Dyer County Elderly Nutrition Program had approximately 25 seniors eat lunch at the Trimble Community Center on their first day serving lunch there. Volunteer Home Care representatives were on hand to test the senior's blood pressure and give away door prizes. The Dyer County Elderly Nutrition Program recently began serving lunch at the Trimble Community Center. Lunch will be served there at 11 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and all seniors are welcome.

Rosa Gipson, nutrition coordinator for Dyer County's Elderly Nutrition Program, said they had 25 people on their first day at the community center.

"This helps get people out of the house that are retired and handicapped," said Gipson. "We're going to play games and have something for them to do."

Dyer County Mayor Richard Hill ate lunch with the seniors and commended Gipson on the program.

"I just think it's a wonderful idea," said Hill. "I really appreciate Rosie taking the time and effort to organize this. It's going to give the seniors a good outlet to come and enjoy fellowship and a good meal. If it gains momentum they might do it five days a week. They've got a nice facility here and I think it's being put to a good use."

Marvin Bradford and his wife of 58 years, Alice Bradford, came to the center to eat lunch.

"It's good," said Marvin Bradford, "It's nice that they get it going and show a little respect for the seniors."
