Charles F. Jackson, 81, of Newbern, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.

He was a retired machinist for All Wear Manufacturing and a member of Trimble Church of Christ.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Malcolm Norton and Bruce Miller officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Sue Jackson of Newbern; two daughters, Janice Jackson of Cordova and Kaylen Staples and husband, Tommy, of Russellville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Kevin Cook of Arlington, Carey Cook and wife, Jeanette of Southaven, Miss., Brad Cook and wife, Amy, of Florence, Ala., Nicholas Cook, Natalie Cook, Nicole Cook, Mark Cook and Brianna Cook; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Kelly Jackson and Tealie Bell Jackson; a sister, Moreen Nicks; and two brothers, Buford Jackson and Robert Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jones, John Ed Moore, Bob Hart, Hunter Bolden, Tommy Fagen and Tony Allen.


Bobby A. Smith, 71, of Cottage Grove, formerly of Dyer County, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Volunteer Hospital in Martin.

He was a retired welder of Spinks Clay Company and owned and operated Smith Welding & Repair in Cottage Grove and attended Olive Branch United Methodist Church.

Services were held at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Mike Wimberly officiating. Burial was in Olive Branch Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Juanita Mullins Smith; two daughters, Vicki Wedding of Merryville, Ind. and Lisa Smith of North Liberty, Iowa; four sons, Ronnie Smith of McKenzie, Bobby Wayne Smith and Johnny Ray Smith II, both of Cottage Grove and Johnny Ray Smith of Henry; three sisters, Annie Smith and Rebecca Smith, both of Dyersburg and Dorothy Dacus of Brighton; six brothers, Clyde Smith of Newbern, Jamie Smith of Henry, Wayne Smith of Camden, Billy Smith, Johnny Smith and Thomas Smith, all of Dyersburg; and eight grandchildren, Amy and Christian Wedding, Shirley, LaReya, Ashley, Kylie and Hunter Smith and BreeAnna Yeargin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Clarence Smith and Zannia Louise Cowick Smith; and a brother, Otis Smith.
