On Saturday at the Dyersburg Country Club at The Farms, 18 four-man teams teed off at 8 a.m. at the 4th Annual Kevin Edgin Memorial Golf Tournament.

Proceeds raised from the event will go to the Kevin Edgin Memorial Scholarship Fund to be given to a member of the Dyer County High School football team or member of the ROTC.

Golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on the links honoring one of America's fallen; something coordinator Greg Garner said was great to see.

"Everything went really well and the family as well as myself really appreciates all the support shown for this tournament from both the players and the hole sponsors," said Garner. "Kevin's parents, Gordon and Margaret, were here to hand out the awards and I know they appreciate everybody coming out."

The winners of the first flight with a 20-under par score of 52 were Jason Roberts, Mark Owens, Jim Simmons and Zach Walden.

Earning second place in the first flight were Jon Anderson, Jeff Shaver, Manny Patel and Casey Scott.

Top winners in the second flight were Jimmy Dixon, Tanner Hensley, Tim White and Rick Brandell. Finishing the tournament second in the second flight was Charles Kelly, John Martin, Leonard Moore and Nancy Patterson.

In other contests held during the event, Jason Butler won the longest drive on the par-4 No.14 hole, while Blake Fry, Manny Patel, Zach Walden and Mike Smith all were awarded prizes for earning closest to the pin honors on the four par-3 holes.

At the conclusion of the tourney the golfers were treated to lunch courtesy of Mallard's Restaurant from Huntingdon.

Garner was proud to see such support for the scholarship fund, and said his late friend would have been proud to.

"Kevin would have been honored to see this many people turn out for this, he really would," added Garner. "There's a lot of work to it but we're already looking forward to next year."
