Joe Massey McCarthy, 80, of Halls, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Trent Bullock officiating. Burial will be in Halls Cemetery. Halls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda McCarthy of Halls; a daughter, Gara McCarthy of Halls; a sister, Margaret Pedigo of Baldwin, Miss.; three brothers, John Owen McCarthy and Billy Jack McCarthy, both of Mantachie, Miss. and Charlie Scott McCarthy of Fulton, Miss.; a granddaughter, Heidi Strong Elbarky; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Jo McCarthy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Vision fund at Halls First Baptist Church.
Frances Laverne Reasons, 82, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a retired secretary for the State Gazette and a longtime member of Hawthorne Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Curry Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Vance Reasons; three daughters, Linda Seratt and Tommy, Wanda Wilkerson and Doug, and Patty Johnson and Eloiett, all of Dyersburg; a brother, William R. Turner of Clinton, Miss.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eula Belle Henry Turner and Leonard C. Turner; and two brothers, Coy B. Turner and Leon Turner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
