Dyersburg Mayor John Holden said nonprofit organizations like the Humane Society and McIver's Grant Public Library received the same amount of funding as the previous budget year. Funding set aside for these organizations are not considered to be donations in the city budgeting process.
Requested funds totaled $173,000. The 2009-2010 budget reflects $158,000 in donations, as follows:
* $40,000 to Tennessee Rehabilitation Center
* $25,000 to Dyersburg State Promise Scholarships
* $12,000 to Developmental Skills Center of Dyer County
* $5,000 to City Beautiful
* $9,000 to Office on Aging
* $6,500 to Dyer County Literacy Program
* $25,000 to the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce
* $7,500 to Dixie Youth Baseball League
* $5,000 to Dixie Girls Softball League
* $1,000 to Dyersburg/Dyer County Youth Football
* $1,500 to Red Cross
* $5,000 to Downtown Revitalization
* $500 to Senior Citizens
* $10,000 to Crime Stoppers
* $5,000 to YMCA
