Frankie Avery, age 53 of Tiptonville, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at her residence. Visitations will be held Monday, July 20, noon-2 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday July 20, at 2 p.m. at St. John No. 3 M.B. Church in Tiptonville with Elder Stanley Montgomery officiating. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge. Burial will be held in Citizens Cemetery. Pallbearers: Chad Avery, Shane Avery, Joshua Newberry, Percious Valentine, Ted Avery, Douglas Avery. Survivors: daughter, Tracy Bolden, Jackson, Tenn.; son, Keith Ceaser, Dyersburg; mother, Minnie Avery, Tiptonville; father, James Frank Avery, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two sisters: Joyce Avery, Tiptonville; Elizabeth Wright, Leesville, La.; three brothers, Sammie Avery, James Avery, Jeffery Avery, Tiptonville; two grandchildren.

Sophia Rae Elmore, infant daughter of Joseph Elmore and Allison Davis, died Wednesday, July 17, 2009 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hurricane Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

In addition to her parents, survivors include her grandparents, Marty and Angela Davis of Dyersburg, and William and Mary Elmore of Friendship; and her great-grandparents, James and Gail Davis of Millsfield, Betty Adkins of Dyersburg, Bo and Linda Oglesby of Abilene, Texas, and Dorothy Metcalf of Friendship.

She was preceded in death by great-grandparents William Clyde Elmore and Dorothy Goodman.

Pallbearer will be Adam Davis.

Buford Maits, 83, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at his residence.

He was retired as a submariner for the U.S. Navy, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War where he served many years in a submarine, retired as an instructor of inertial navigation, was from Dyersburg and Palm Harbor, Fla., and retired from the city of Dunedin, Fla., as a water-pollution control operator.

Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Fyrne Lake Farms on Lenox-Nauvoo Road with the Rev. Kenneth Griffith officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Diana Griffith and husband, Kevin, of Dyersburg and Palm Harbor, Fla.; a son, Stan Braman and wife, Janet, of Tallmadge, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Jeannie Braman of Wausau, Fla.; a sister, Katherine Coley of Mobile, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita B. Maits, in 2008; a daughter, Cecilia Campbell; two sons, Donald Braman and Kenneth Braman; his parents, Harold and Ruth Bryars Maits; and a brother, Vernon Maits.

Thomas "Sonny" Watson, 75, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away on July 8, 2009.

He was born on April 17, 1934 in Dyersburg, Tenn. He had been a resident of Jackson, Tenn. for five years before moving to Las Vegas 26 years ago. He was a member of St John's Masonic Lodge in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, April; children, Sherry "Lyni" Hill, WI, Beth (Miller) DelFante, NV, Denise Rigot, IN, Scott Miller, CA, and Joseph, IN; grandchildren; sister, Cathy Thiele, CA and his beloved Tennessee family, Aunt Violet (Watson) Hatch and cousins, Shirley (Cecil) Viar, Raymond (Helen) Hatch, Ronnie (Carol) Hatch, Roger (Sandy) Hatch and their families.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents Clayborn "Coot" and Bernice (Milner) Watson; son, Ronnie; sisters, Carolyn Maloney and Brenda Pellegrini.

Services took place on July 15, 2009 in Las Vegas.
