Lake County Sheriff's deputies confiscated 6.2 lbs. of marijuana during a traffic stop on Highway 78 late Friday night.

The incident happened at 11:13 p.m. on Highway 78, just north of Wynnburg. Deputy Greg Story clocked a white Ford Mustang traveling 65 mph in a 55-mph zone and made a traffic stop.

The driver of the Mustang, Quaddaro L. Burnom, 21, 1754 Claire St., Memphis, was driving with a suspended driver's license, which was his fifth offense, and was taken into custody.

As Story and Deputy Mario Montgomery were making out an inventory list of the vehicle's contents they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the trunk area. After checking the trunk they found six bags of a leafy-type substance, which tested positive as marijuana. The total weight of the six bags was 6.2 lbs.

Burnom was also charged with speeding and possession of a schedule VI substance with the intent to sell or deliver. He is currently being held in the Lake County Jail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Thursday morning in Lake County General Sessions Court.
