On August 7, 2009, Brother Dan Leggett went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was an ordained minister with The Assemblies of God since 1979. He pastored churches in Tennessee, Mississippi, Kansas and Missouri.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, August 10th in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Lainheart and Reverend Jerry Leggett officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, August 9th at Calvary Assembly of God in Kennett, Mo. and beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, August 10th at Curry Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Beaver, Floyd Wallace, Harold Mikel, Toney Hill, Jason Wilson and Greg Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelby Williams and Randy Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Eva Davison Leggett, 1 daughter, Melonie Rae Leggett Williams and husband Randy of Memphis, Tenn.; 1 Brother, Jerry Leggett and wife Brenda, of Union City, Tenn.; 3 granddaughters, Shelby, Hannah Lynn (Bunny), and Gabbriella Hope Williams, all of Memphis.

He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Jackie Joe Leggett and his parents, Thomas Woodrow and Mattie Lue Warren Leggett.

Mary Martha Shull Phebus, 81, of Memphis, formerly of Ridgely, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in Dyersburg.

She was a retired secretary for Faxon-Gillis Home Builders in Memphis and a member of Bartlett United Methodist Church.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009, at the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgley with the Rev. Larry Humbert officiating .

Survivors include a son, Jeff Phebus of Bartlett; a sister, Laverne House of Ridgley; a brother, Jerry Shull and wife, Carolyn of Ridgely; and a sister-in-law, Ruth McCastlin of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Garland and Estelle Bargery Shull; her husband, Norman Phebus; and two brothers, Nard Calvin Shull and Harry Shull.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Badgett, Dustin Badgett, Bob Shull, Larry Patterson, Andy Shull, Jake Yoes, and Ken Hickman. Honorary pallbearers will be Teroy Shull, Aaron Staulcup, Jim Shull, Steve McCastlin, and Mike McCastlin.

Betty Lou Runion Roberts, 76, Dyersburg, TN died Friday, August 7, 2009 at Dyersburg Manor. She was born December 4, 1932 in Miston, Tennessee to the late Charlie H. and Eva Bottoms Runion. She was the third of six children.

Funeral services for Mrs. Roberts will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Second Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Ronnie Turner and Reverend Johnny Welch. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Geijer, Dean Armour, Kevin Joslin, Anthony Parham, Jim Gray and Pat Heinz. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Curry Funeral Home.

She had been a Christian since her early youth and was a member of the Second Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was very interested in genealogy and along with her sister and daughters located the countries of origin of many of their ancestors. She had also been a member of the PTA.

She married James V. Roberts on November 28, 1948 and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by 3 daughters: LaRinda (Bobby) Middleton, Tuscumbia, AL, Lynne (Guenter) Ruthsatz, Linden, TN, and Eva Lynne (Steve) Rogers, Dyersburg, TN. She is also survived by 1 sister; Jane (Paskel) Harmon from Pegram, TN, 4 brothers; Hurschel (Marie) Runion, Tiptonville, TN, Bobby (Roberta) Runion, Lawrenceburg, TN, Donnie (Julia) Runion, Goodlettsville and Damon (Gail) Runion, Memphis. TN. She is survived by 7 grandchildren: Jacob Rogers, Kelly Geijer, Amanda Murray, Justin Joswiak, Seth, Willie and John Hanks and 12 great-grandchildren: Madison, Karley and Logan Geijer, Alex Aycock, Regan and Cooper Murray, Autumn Joswiak, Ashley, Walynne, Lelynne, Elijah and Kiah Hanks.

Lexie Sue Simpson, 76, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at her residence.

She was a retired employee of Sylvania.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Sorrells Chapel Cemetery in Dyersburg.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Ann Buchanon of Halls; three sons, James Simpson and wife, Cathy, of Dyersburg, Johnny Simpson and wife, Kim, of Dresden, and Lee Simpson and wife, Virginia, of Bruceton; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Edward Simpson; her parents, James David and Mattie Neal Lawson Loines; two sisters, Ruth Reyes and Eula Hinson; three brothers, Bill Loines, Jimmy Loines and Raymond Loines; and numerous other brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Jarrod Simpson, Colton Simpson, Eric Warden, Doug Preslar, Nick Preslar and Donald Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Simpson and Centauri Dixon.

Mrs. Bessie H. Tucker, 95, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. A woman of faith and strength, who raised herself and her family amid simple and poor circumstances, sacrificing for her children, her children's children and theirs. At her last, at 95 years of age, she remained a faithful and loving grandmother and true daughter of God. She died peacefully surrounded by family and friends. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 11th at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Loren Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Monday, August 10th at the funeral home and beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 11th at Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Tucker, 1 daughter, Gracie Smith Arnold, 1 son, Marvin L. Smith, her parents, William & Sadie Blankenship Harrell and 1 grandson, Ray Capps.

Pallbearers will be the Men at Southside Baptist Church.
