County planners to meet Thursday

Wednesday, August 12, 2009
The Dyer County Regional Planning Commission is scheduled to consider a major subdivision plat, a zoning amendment and more when it meets Thursday afternoon.

The commission meeting begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Dyer County Building and Zoning Department office, 1910 Pioneer Road.

Items on the agenda include:

* A major subdivision plat from Paul Barnett, who proposes a nine-lot subdivision on Highway 104 West at Black Locust Lane.

* A proposed zoning amendment that would revise the minimum lot sizes for schools. Current regulations call for a minimum of 5 acres.

Lucretia Birmingham of Hornbeak wants to build a 2,000-square-foot school on a 2-acre lot on Hammer Road near the Millsfield Highway. She provides a training program for nurse aides as part of a faith-based community outreach project.

The proposed amendment would require 2 acres of land for schools with no more than 50 students plus an additional acre for each additional 50 students.

* A discussion of projects to be scheduled for the upcoming year.
