Man pleads guilty to taking $1,500 from informant

In Dyer County Circuit Court on July 13-14:

* Paul Elmer Barch, 51, 200 Joe Circle, pleaded guilty to selling morphine, a Schedule II controlled substance. He was sentenced to six months in the county jail followed by four years in a community corrections program. The sentence is to be served consecutively with all prior sentences. His $2,000 fine was suspended and he was ordered to pay $200 restitution to the Dyersburg Police Department Drug Fund.

* Hunter Edward Jamison, 26, 884 Wesley Drive, pleaded guilty to theft of property in excess of $1,000. He was accused of entering a Beaver Creek Cove home and stealing $1,500 cash and a custom-made set of Calloway golf clubs on Nov. 16. He was sentenced to two years in prison, but the sentence is to be suspended after he serves 90 days. He will be placed on supervised probation for the remaining 21 months of his sentence. He was ordered to pay the victim $1,000 restitution.

* Keith Artis Johnson, 34, 2441 St. John Ave., pleaded guilty to possessing more than half a gram of cocaine with intent to sell. He was sentenced to eight years in prison but he was ordered to serve six months in the county jail followed by seven and a half years of probation. He also was fined $2,000.

Additional charges - selling Schedule II drugs and possessing dihydrocodeinone, a Schedule III controlled substance; Alprazolam, a Schedule IV controlled substance; Diazepam, a Schedule IV controlled substance; and methadone, a Schedule II controlled substance, with intent to sell - were dismissed.

* Greg B. Maze, 46, 93 Baker Road in Tigrett, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. A related charge of assault was dismissed. He was accused of threatening a cashier at the Express Shop and taking $5 from the cash register on Dec. 7. He was sentenced to 30 days of probation.

* Terry Wade Montgomery, 25, address unavailable, pleaded guilty to theft of property in excess of $1,000. He was accused of accepting $1,500 from a Dyersburg Police Department confidential informant to buy an ounce of methamphetamine on Oct. 9. Montgomery reportedly never retuned with the drugs. He was sentenced to two years in a community corrections program and must pay $1,500 restitution to the DPD Drug Fund.

* Cedric Lamar Moses, 32, address unavailable, pleaded guilty to failure to appear. He was sentenced to a year in prison and will serve that time consecutively to all prior sentences. Additional charges of driving with a revoked license and failure to appear were not prosecuted.

* Randy F. Patterson, 26, 757 Christy St., pleaded guilty to simple possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days of unsupervised probation and fined $250.

* Sharon Darlene Prater, 47, 1101 Tucker Circle, pleaded guilty to failure to appear on a citation and resisting arrest. She was accused of failing to report to the jail to serve a sentence on Aug. 8, 2008, and then resisting arrest on Nov. 22. In each count, she was sentenced to 30 days in jail followed by 10 months and 29 days of unsupervised probation. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
