2 accused of attempted murder among 72 grand jury indictments

Friday, August 21, 2009
Two men accused of trying to kill a woman were indicted this month.

Albert O'Brien "Dirty" Dewalt, 25, 909 Fair St., and Kenyatuah Antwane "YaYa" Harris, 34, 1375 Cumberland Ave., face charges of attempted first-degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

They allegedly conspired to shoot the woman and, on July 11, did shoot her several times. She called the Dyer County Sheriff's Department from her car, which was in a ditch on Bean Mill Road. She was airlifted to The Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

The indictment was one of 72 true bills handed down by a Dyer County grand jury on Aug. 10. Twenty-eight of those indictments involved cases taken straight to the grand jury, instead of being considered in a lower court first.
