John William Deckard, 64, of Tiptonville, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
He was a maintenance machinist for TVA, a member of Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church, member of American Legion Post 174 where he served as adjutant, 1963 graduate of Donelson High School, a certified locksmith and served in the Tennessee Air National Guard.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Crockett Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marita Burkeen officiating. Burial will be in Crockett Chapel Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors at 11 a.m. today at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Davie Carol Deckard of Tiptonville; four sons, Patrick Deckard of White House, Jason Deckard (Genie) of Murfreesboro, Tenn. David W. Deckard (Jenny) and Pleasant View, Tenn. and John Deckard (Angela) of Panama City Beach, Fla.; a brother, David Clark Deckard of Goodyear, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Avery, Lloyd Dunn, Eddie Cain, Glen Rogers, Jerry Simmons, Todd Rogers and Terry Petty.
Mrs. Artie B. Griffin, 77, of Elgin, IL formerly of Samburg, died Monday, August 31, 2009 at her residence.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 at Samburg Pentecostal Church with Sister Rose Huey officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Hornbeak, TN. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 -- 8:00 pm Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home and beginning Friday, September 4, 2009 at 12 Noon until service time at Samburg Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include 3 Daughters, Linda (John) Buchanan of DeKalb, IL, Susie (Donald) Taillon, Big Sandy, TN, Lois (Owen) Buchanan, Elgin, IL and 1 Son, Edward Griffin and his finance' Levy, Chicago, IL, 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great-granchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wright Griffin, her parents Elmer and Ellen (Breakfield) Hoffman, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Buchanan, Brian Waldorf, Robert Griffin, Jim Griffin, John Griffin and Coty Claudio.

Dorothy Mae Lucille McCorkle, 78, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 at The Highlands of Dyersburg.
She was a homemaker and a member of RoEllen Baptist Church.
She was born May 10, 1931 in Dyer County to the late Amos and Mable Morrow Glozier.
Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Michaels officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Anthony McCorkle of Marquette, Mich.; two grandchildren, James Mac Anthony McCorkle and Alex Christopher McCorkle; and three nieces, Linda Sue Lemons of Tatumville, Dottie Lee Lowrance of RoEllen and Jane Simpson of Atoka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin McCorkle; a daughter, Vicky Sue McCorkle; a sister, Hazel Barham; and a brother-in-law, L.C. Barham.
Pallbearers will be Alan Lowrance, Josh Lowrance, Steven Agee, Terry Lemons, James McCorkle and Robert "Bobby" Hart.
